Router recommendation Belong nbn

Hi guys, Currently I am using TP link AC1600 came with TPG last year. I am on Belong at the moment sometimes having some coverage and speed issues sometimes better. The connection is good 30mpbs all the time So thinking of getting a new router or mesh. Personally prefer a good router as my toddlers may mess up the mesh points.Mainly use for streaming and browsing. have no idea about routers please recommend.
Thank you

  • What kind of NBN? If unsure check here

How would a toddler mess up the mesh?

  • When did you join belong and what plan did you sign up to? Had you previously gotten any faster with them?

I only ask because they have an option that caps at 30mbps.

    • its 30 mbps but I was with tangerine 25 Mbps and it was good

      • Have you connected more devices / are actively using more now? 30mbps isn’t just “speed” but also capacity. The more you add and try and use, the slower they will all run.

How has the coverage changed recently?

  • Its says (FTTP)
My power points are in hallway My 2 toddlers may take them off or turn them off if mesh can make a big difference i would go for it

    • FTTP you beauty!

Mesh is worth it to fix range problems. What do you want to spend?

Can you put them up higher on furniture?

      • Hi mate. Thank you so much for your reply. It's a two-storey house. I can spend up to $400 or according to performance and preferably 2 mesh points. possibly I would be able to put on furniture or behind tv. I have CCTV at home so I need one port for that.

        • TP-Link Deco M5 or AmpliFi HD by Ubiquiti Labs.

Placing a router behind a TV causes wifi problems & on furniture is better as long as it doesn't have a mirror on it.

          • @Twix: Hi mate. Thanks do you recommend tenda mw6?

            • @Behappy: MW6 is not bad. I like the other routers better.

          • @Twix: also on amplifi do I need the main plus 2 units or 1?

            • @Behappy: I can't tell without physically being there to test it. Start off with the main AmpliFi HD router & go from there.

  • +1

Definitely mesh, even if toddlers turn them off, etc, they will self-recover (the mesh points, maybe not the toddlers)
