Recommendations for a Humidifier

Looking for recommendations for a humidifier. First time ever purchasing a humidifier so don't really know what am after. We have only begun living in colder climate and the convector heater is drying out all the air in the living room and the bedroom. Its an average/usual size unit with about 30 m2 for living room and about 20 squares for the bedroom.

Reading up between an ultrasonic humidifier https://www.kmart.com.au/product/ultrasonic-humidifier/29998… and an evaporative humidifier https://www.kmart.com.au/product/humidifier/2888848?&gclid=C… (this products manual says its ultrasonic :-/ ) - wouldn't ultrasonic humidifiers leave water if used in a room with carpet ?

Anyway, any advice appreciated.

I have an oil diffuser I got from a previous deal here which actually increases humidity. In a small place I don't think I'd actually need a separate humidifier and I didn't pay much at all. It's Sydney so not that dry…

Having said that, what's your average humidity at the moment? Does it feel dry or are you getting like under 50% humidity?

I have a gas heater in an apartment and it feels quite dry when I run it but the opposite is actually true. I have had it on for 30 mins earlier (it doesn't need to be on much since the unit is not huge) and the humidity is 74% at the moment. I actually run a dehumidifier in one of my bathrooms for long periods to actually dry my laundry. If I have it on for half a day the humidity drops to 60-65%. I aim for sub 65%.

    • I dont have means to measure humidity in the rooms at the moment. The only problem really is the air 'feels' dry, blowing nose has streaks of blood (GP thinks its the air and the fact we moved from the tropics to Canberra) and we end up itching most of the times when the heater is on.

get one of these - you can find a lot cheaper than $17 but this is fairly good quality, has a max/min range and well priced (cheaper on Amazon than eBay) https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B01H1R0K68/?coliid=I2FLTS8BMJ9Y…
        don't forget cash rewards :)

I've got 3 - not all the same model
temperature the main rooms I spend time in

We got the cheaper one from Kmart below for our kids room, it is ultrasonic too and we like it a lot. We keep it on the carpet and if we dont set it to a high setting, it is fine. It is probably powerful enough for bigger rooms but it definitely does the job for bedrooms. It comes with a timer.

    • Thanks for confirming this one's an ultrasonic. I was leaning towards this one as it seems reasonably priced and is probably going to be a good starting point. Cheers.
