  • Is this below cost when it was first released?

      • -1

LOL!!!!! I have heard this before and ….. I don't believe you for some strange reason. What on earth are you into business when you are selling at below buying price.

        • It's just good business.

      • +1

why are you selling it then?

        • It's just good business, looking at it long term.

  • +1

    .

  • +5

hmm kinda pricey for an e350 box, for that same price I could get an additional 12inch led screen with keyboard and 6 cell battery to carry it around to use :D

  • -5

    http://www.staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=ASUS+EeeBox…

    Cheapest @ Saticice is A$437.00

    what is the shipping fee..

NO DEAL.. unless 50% OFF the current price

    • +11

Cheapest on StaticIce is $437 plus delivery to Post Code 2141/NSW is 16.99
Our price, $399 plus delivery to Post Code 2141/NSW is 10.35

Cheapest on StaticIce is $437 plus delivery to Post Code 6000/WA is 22.38
Our price, $399 plus delivery to Post Code 6000/WA is 20.65

      You do the maths.

It's just cheaper, same product. That's the point of OzBargain?

  • +5

Any rep that says their product is below cost should provide a screen grab of their purchase invoice. It's BS. How stupid do you think we are?

    • +8

You asked for it… here it is,

      Example: EB1501P-W035E, our buy price is $466 + %10 GST = $512.6 , selling price $479

If you still think there is something wrong here, just don't buy, your loss.

      Image: www.1800computers.com.au/asuseboxpurchase.jpg

      • -1

Ah, and since you can claim back the 10% GST paid ($46.60) you are still ahead. http://www.ato.gov.au/businesses/content.aspx?doc=/content/2…

That explains why you can sell 'BELOW COST' (kind of), while still making money.

        • +4

Yeah, but then they need to remit 1/11th of the $479 sale price (~$43) to the ATO, leaving only ~$435 …

        • Lol… I wish, no buddy, we are registered for GST as a company, so we collect GST for the government.

        • If it was something they were buying for use in their business they could claim back gst to some extent (I think), but not for stuff they sell.

      • +4

Note that flashi007 asked for a purchase invoice, not a partial screenshot of a distributor's list price. There are likely to be off invoice discounts, rebates and/or bonuses to factor in, so stating that it is below cost is impossible to prove without revealing your terms of trade!

Having said that, if this is still the cheapest price available now, then it's still a bargain for those looking for one. If you removed the whole 'below cost' schtick it'd probably go down a lot better.

      • +8

Plus for the rep responding to requests promptly and answering questions. Even hanging around to cop the flak when this place turned on them.

Looks like a good deal too, not something I need however…

        • +1

+1 to you and the OP. Outstanding response to questions. Almost makes we want to buy one.

      • Thanks for being so quick to respond

  • -8

    totally agree with lamerthanlam
Also provide invoice to prove this is below cost!!

    • +5

      Not fair dude.

  • +9

    What difference does it make????

"below cost"…. "RRP"… "what's it usually sell for"…. "shipping too high", etc

Who cares…..Look at the bottom line…… is the price (including shipping) the best there is?…..

    • +6

Thank you, however it is genuinely below cost + cheaper then all websites out there. Thanks!

      • +1

whats wrong with proving us wrong rather than arguing with us!

        • what difference will it make if 'we' are right or wrong?

          Will the price change?

      • You probably would have been given a warmer reception if you didn't say below cost. Some people will never be happy with a bargain…. good prices however not a need atm.

  • -5

What a strange persistence to sell below cost at a loss for someone who says that they have "good business looking long term".
The more you sell below cost the bigger loss you get. And if you lose a lot then you go out of business. Doesn't make sense to me.
So please don't tell us about "below cost" BS.

    • +1

      don't worry about it….
      it's irrelevant

    • +10

before you crucify the rep it's not that strange, coming from a sales background i can tell you normal retail shops do it too, it's called a loss leader and basically it's to get new customers through the doors(or site) at the cost of profit, at least here he's telling you it's only for 30 units

      • +2

        Thank you, someone understands.

  • -3

Below cost! Maybe its something they purchased that they are having trouble selling so want to flog it of cheap to clear stock. I doubt any retailer would be selling at a loss.

      • Thanks for that…. Thanks to the information you have provided I really feel I know what the problems are with this deal…..
Thank god for the neg system…. this deal has now been removed from view

All ozbargainers are winners…. thanks to you and your negging friends

        • ahhh…. sanity prevails and all but one of the ridiculous negs removed…..

  • +8

1800computers could honestly be selling at below cost to get their name out there, as selling 30 laptops below cost would be a lot cheaper then paying for advertising, and honestly ozbargain is the best type of advertising.

    • +3

      Thank you, someone understands.

    • Bearing in mind you may find a product at their store you would have purchased at another because its cheaper but with combined postage works out better from reps store therefore offsetting the loss to some degree? Correct?

  • Why wouldnt you just buy a $400 netbook (with an ION processor for graphics) and hook it up to a monitor? any assistance would be appreciated.

I've never understood the need for the EEEBox market.

    • +1

could be a good HTPC alternative i guess

    • Eeeboxes are desktop equivalents of Netbooks.

      These are energy efficient machines.

      Cheaper to repair then netbooks.

Eeeboxes are ideal for internet cafes, schools, hospitals, advertising screens, HTPC alternative as below post recommends.

Also thieves prefer netbooks/laptops to eeeboxes :)

If you want a PC but without the size, noise, too many cables and wires, then this is it.

  • +1

Are these powerful enough to play 1080p x264 files?

    • +2

      Yes they can.

This CPU AMD Dual-Core Processor E-350 is more powerful then:

      You know this how?

  • does EB1021 come with a remote control? if not, can we buy it? it's not specified in the web

    • I'm sorry but my supplier doesn't keep stock.

  • Can you please confirm that 6GB ram possible, all references indicate 4GB maximum?

    • EeeBox has only 1 RAM slot, therefore maximum is 4GB is available.

      • OK just wondered why you have quoted
        "UPGRADES:
        Additional 2GB RAM is $19
        Additional 4GB RAM is $29" ?

  • +1

I'm not in the market for one myself but I'd like to show my appreciation for this deal OP. It's below competitors prices on StaticIce which in my mind validates it for OzBargain.

As for people demanding invoices and such, which other competitors give you this on request? Be realistic. 30 Units, it's not that unbelievable he might be selling below cost nor is this practice uncommon in the retail world. Someone mentioned loss leader above which is exactly what this is in my limited understanding of the sales world.

  • +12

    Dear OzBargain,

I'm learning alot from you guys, and I appreciate every feedback in this post.

Some products is for everyone, and some are for few, and this is for the few. I don't expect all to appreciate the deal and all the comments, both negative & positive are helping create a better deal in the future, and I hope the next deal will blow everyone's minds. Keep up the feedback.

    I'm really loving it.

    Thanks,
    Serkan

      +1 for the rep

    • good to see u spending 8 hr on this thread… LOL

    • +1

      Rep

Credit to you for hanging around and responding to all the comments. I will admit that if people fill their posts wirh comments such as "BELOW COST", "HURRY UP" or "BE QUICK" then it annoys the ozbargainers (regardless of whether or not it is a loss leader). Just post your deal, if it's the cheapest around then you will be a star. Just make sure you check on staticice first. Gimmicky lines such as 'below cost' belong in the trash

      • No probs.

        Thank you.
