Vittoria Mountain Grown Coffee 1.5kg $18 @ Woolworths (In-Store Only)

150

Ok trendsetters do I have a deal for you. This may be the coffee deal of the year.

This coffee is on sale for $18 a kg, however the current run of bags should be 1.5 Kg (500g free promotional bags).

This makes it $12 a kg.

It may scan at incorrect price ($24) as the 1 and 1.5 kg bags have different bar codes, but if you tell the staff they should refund you.

Happy hunting.

    Unopened, these make excellent doorstops.

Until they puncture, and then they're just more mess.

      • 😂

Hijacking top post to repeat what's already said.

If you're into the budget bean market you really can't beat Aldi medium roast!

Wrap the beans in mesh and put them in your shoes, makes great odour eaters.

      • +4

Would only ruin the shoes. Have you ever smelt Vittoria beans? ;-)

(Aside: I love cafes that display the metallic gold Vittoria branding including umbrellas etc - it's the coffee drinking consumer's equivalent of roadside transflective danger signs for a driver)

Can never build never pressure for espresso with these beans as they aren't very fresh when once they hit supermarket shelves, locally roasted Aldi Lazzio all the way when it comes to budget coffee beans!

I keep trying different varieties, boutique and local etc.
Keep coming back to Aldi Lazio medium beans - can't be beat

      • +3

Agree Aldi's coffee bean is quite impressive :)

      • +1

I agree, me as well ! The Aldi Coffee beans are great.
Also, we get the $12 Coles beans which are equally as good.

Our Dilema is Coles or Aldi ! and only $12 a Kilo :)

Tried Vittoria, we could not get any pressure when making the espresso, thought our machine was not working, until we used the Aldi beans and all was good.

        • Coles' Daley Street coffee is a great coffee and an even better deal when it's on sale as well, its roasted in Preson, Melbourne!

    • +1

These are Melbourne roasted too…. but agree that Aldi price and taste are hard to beat!

      • +2

Yep Melbourne roasted 6 months ago,

        • +2

…with 2-3 months in a distribution warehouse and an indeterminate amount of time on the local supermarket shelf.😒

Remember: roasted coffee is typically at its best somewhere between 3 and 21 days post-roast.

        • Unlikely, with the huge surge in sales Aldi has had since Corona came to town.

@Daabido: I think you'll find that @SwimmingToad was referring to Vittoria and not Aldi.

    • Can never build never pressure for espresso with these beans

You mean that you cannot find a grind size and dose combination to give you a good output ratio?!

      • Not necessarily, at least from my experience with these beans I've messed around with the grind size and could never get build enough pressure, as roasted beans get older they oxidise and the oils solidify, and despite grinding to the finest setting it never built enough pressure due to the lack of oil to fill the gaps between the coffee grounds. Lazzio beans have never failed me as I have been able to achieve consistent results with minimal tamp pressure which produces consistent doses.

      • old beans would have lost a lot of the out-gassing (CO2) that would have created the pressure. Fresh beans build pressure easily because of the out-gassing as water comes into contact with the grind.

  • Only 1Kg at Mornington :(

whelp, that settles it. ozbargainers hate mass produced, potentially old roasted coffee beans even more than they hate a non-bargain post!

  • Brown Bag Coffee

Decent coffee $15 per kilo + delivery.

    • Apparently they repack the $10/kg coffee and put a $15 price tag. Easy money!

      • any proof for that? I ordered 4 sample pack and wont say that it was bad coffee
