Wow these are so cheap these days. 128gb for $25?? I feel like these used to be $60 for 16gb

Couldn't find much on write speeds online but one review seems to be pretty decent

    https://macsources.com/sandisk-ultra-dual-drive-usb-type-c-r…

    " The Blackmagic Speed Test showed a read/write speed of 140.0/56.6 MB/s"

    • Indeed!

I can confirm that they are also fast enough for use on the Nintendo Switch. Obviously not as fast as from loading from the internal memory, but no gameplay impacts (slower drives can cause bad stuttering).

While the speeds aren't as fast as other usb drives, the appeal here is its usb c option.

I have some of these drives.

    Overall they're decent performing drives.

The major flaw is the sliding mechanism cannot hold for some usb-c ports i have.
Ie. Inserting it into these ports will make it retract, so you have to hold the sliding thing in a way it doesn't retract.
Does anyone else have this problem?

Usb-c pets in general seem to have a higher insertion force then usb-a ports, so the usb-a side is generally not a problem.

Yea, this happens after a lot of uses. It was fine for first year of usage but I do have same issues. For most part it fine on type c end but for me I have more issues with type a side.

Has anyone tried an OW price match (PBG)?

Wouldn't bother unless I needed straight away. Cashback is as much as Officeworks price match and it gets delivered to home with no hassle

      • +3

PGB is 5% - and I do like the ability to go to my local store for a pickup.

        • I might try price match it today. Was anyone successful?

          • @lars06: I didn't yet as it is such an infrequently used thing.

            • +1

@Bold Eagle: I just checked and the 128GB is only available online :/

              • @lars06: Tried and the part number on Officeworks (SDDDC2-128G-Q46) doesn't match Amazon's (SDDDC2-128G-G46) so they won't do it…

  • Thanks OP, got one

For anyone who doesn't like the sliding mechanism, I recommend the SanDisk Ultra 128GB Dual Drive Go

    https://www.amazon.com.au/SanDisk-Ultra-128GB-Drive-SDDDC3-1…

It's only $2 more. I ordered this a few days back, still waiting to for it to arrive.

    • I've been looking for a drive like this for a while now; this looks great! Any idea what the speeds are like? The price is pretty decent.

    • This looks good, I might go for this.
I have the one in this deal with the sliding mechanism and it's an absolute pain in the arse to use! It always retracts when trying to plug in.

    • Has anyone tried both of these drives? They seem to be the same spec wise, but I’m wondering if anyone has speed tests from both…

  • Wonder if these also get crazy hot like the standalone USB-C SanDisk Ultra sticks…

  • Ive got so many USB sticks there days :(

    • So your to sticky?

here is my USB drive 64gb version which bough last year, exactly same model just different capacity.

    • Edit the post to say 'here are my speeds of my USB'……

  • Have been using mine for work and these are amazing! Ended up getting a second one :)
