50% off Your First Order (Save up to $20) @ DoorDash

214
50JULYAU

Seems they're started this promo again as app has a pop up. Ends on Tuesday 21st 5am. This is funded by DoorDash and they also have lower margins to restaurants than UberEats. Local burger place was saying during Covid DoorDash charging 15% to him, and UberEats, Deliveroo etc all 30%+. So he preferred I used DoorDash.

Enter promo code 50JULYAU at checkout for 50% off your first DoorDash order

Capped at a maximum discount of $20 and new users only.

Works on both pickup and delivery of orders (seems also if you order >$40 from most restaurants you get free delivery as well) so if you get $40 delivered, it'll cost $20 inc delivery.

As far as I can tell, places on there still hike their prices up just as much as they do on Uber Eats, compared to what you pay in-store.

Seems like the customer is the one who misses out on that saving between uber and door dash

I think it depends on the restaurant. A few I've ordered from (local indian, San Churro, McDonalds, Pizza) are all the same price? I have seen some though that charged more.

I figured If I ordered something getting 50% off and the restaurant only paid 15% on that instead of 30%, its a win win?

That's fair, plus it's a 50% discount so worth it to sign up at least.

Also realised that the 15% is only during the COVID period. So who know's how long that will last. Noticed my unlimited NBN during COVID has stopped already

      • Also need to be aware the online price is difference to the instore menu in some restaurants.

  • I actually had issue signing up previously (using the sign up codes), it was asking for another credit card to verify address and it just kept throwing an error. Hopefully fixed now

  • Where do you enter the code?

I signed up, the discount popped up, I entered it, the discount applied. I was charged full price. I contacted support and they wanted a screen shot of the checkout page with the coupon applied and a screen shot of the pop up coupon code.

    • Couldn't you just cancel the order?

      • +1

I didn’t realize until I was checking my bank account. I honestly thought it worked. I saw the discounted amount at checkout when I paid.

      This happened to me.

I used the code, it quoted the price with the code, I submitted the order and got charged full price.

I had two charges - one for the food, one for delivery.

I managed to cancel the order before the restaurant accepted it expecting the ordeal to be over.

I got the food refunded but they are holding onto the delivery fee.

I've gone through several support agents. One agreed to refund so I waited for it. Nothing came so I contacted them again. The next agent said they wouldn't refund, only give credits.

I asked them why wasn't I notified about this. They said it was on me to contact them.

I defended these guys in the past but it's the worst service I've had in a long time.

  • I was charged 50% only did you set the region to AU in the account?
I did that as I had US coupon yesterday for 25% was giving country error ..not sure though that you were overcharged due to default country settings.

    • Where do u set country?

      • +1

when we make a new account default is the US has to change manually in settings on desktop version/site. no option in the app the country don't change with address/ phone code.

        • Awesome thx u just changed it!

I tried to use this a week or so ago, had it all ready to order as I had pre-tested the coupon and it was accepted, so when dinner time came I logged back in to enter a credit card and checkout but the discount was instantly removed after I added the card saying it was not eligible

Spoke to support who didn't listen or understand the problem and most unhelpful. Was told to order at full price then claim the difference back from them, (yeah right) was then told someone would call me in 48 hours, and they otherwise could not do a thing about the issue ..never got a call, wasted many many hours on it and end up going hungry in the end!!

Not going to bother with them again, the customer service was horrendous! I'd hate to think how problematic claiming back the difference would have been!

I had a similar horrible experience.

At least Uber Eats are much fairer even if their standard isn't best in class.

DoorDash have no doubt invested a lot to enter Australia and acquire customers and then they let people down with horrendous customer service.

I also mentioned to the support that the restaurant I ordered from had free delivery advertised over $40. I was charged for the delivery as well.

They told me that the 50% off ($20) was for Door Dash Pass members only and free delivery only applies to door dash pass customers. Neither of these things are mentioned on the website.

Used it last night. Double checked my credit card. I was charged the right amount. I got 50% discount and free delivery.

  • Website rejects every credit card I have.

  • Those of you who got charged full, do a chargeback. That will teach them.

  • If you sign up as a new customer can you get the $10 referral credit and this deal for 50% off?

  • are these guys only in melbourne atm? I live in wollongong >.>
