Pretty weak looking pirate ship. Sails aren't even made of fabric, it has no fabric rope, even the shark looks goofier compared to the classic Lego shark. What even is that on the figurehead? I think the two alternate sets look better than the ship, maybe that's the only reason the sails are made of plastic.

I have it next to a classic pirate ship and nostaliga aside this is way better. The hull is beautifully shaped with bricks vs cheating with huge hull pieces, and it has way more detail. The brick sails are a bit ugly but Lego official ones are one sided and get manky with age.

      • How big does it feel all up? And how many men can stand on the deck, I kinda like the big open deck plates of the old ships because they could hold a lot of men and stuff. And women too.

And how do you explain this set's lack of a monkey? Or canons?

        • It has two cannons and you can build a monkey to go on the skull island. LEGO have just released two Pirate boats at different price points. The cheaper one can't have everything but I enjoyed the builds.

        • It's on the smaller side, a crew of 6 looks about right. I agree the built monkey is hilariously crap, the old molded one is AWOL for many years

It does have 2 cannons ready to shoot cylinders off to get lost.

I agree with what Merlict has said - however one additional point to note is that with Pirates of Barracuda bay out at the same time they have made them fairly different offerings. If you want bigger / better, the option exists. In general this one as a creator set makes sense to have the lego plastic parts rather than the cloth but overall it’s a great ship. At 119 it’s exceptionally great IMO.

I remember when $100 was a lot of money for any toy. Back when I was poor. Poorer.

        • It’s still a lot but I always look at these things as an experience. If buying as an adult, it’s the amount of enjoyment or time I get out of it, but then there’s the display aspect which I take into account as well. With those two factors considered, it’s still money but doesn’t seem so bad. I could have a dinner at a nice restaurant for about the same money, so hey if it gets me that much of an enjoyable time for the build and then also as a display item, it seems pretty good :) That said, I tend to have a lot of (Lego) dinners.

  • Got mine for 107 from Amazon

    • Wish they did it again

Same - but at 119 it’s still a fantastic set. We’re talking 12 dollars here (but yes I know this is Ozbargain haha).

Bought it, built it, liked it. Fun build, I recommend it.

  • Got an instant refund… :(

  • Do they even have stock? All the LEGO shelves in Kmarts I've been too are so empty.

    • Yeah my local is stripped bare

I’m pretty sure this is already sold out everywhere although Kmarts site is crap. It’s saying to call my store to find out if there is stock and that there is no stock online.
