HSBC $100 deal, is it worth signing up?

Hey guys,

I just opened a westpac account to get the free $50 as advertised on ozB and came across the old HSBC one where they give you $100 if the deposit conditions are met.

Was just after opinions of those who signed up. Was it worth it? If the sign ups easy I'll do it but if it requires personal checks worthy of a CIA interview I might give this one a miss.lol

The $100 sign-up bonus is good, but the 2% cashback on PayWave transactions under $100 is even better.

The sign-up process requires more information than the Aussie Banks usually require, but for me, it was well worth the effort.

2% cashback on PayWave transactions under $100 is even better.

      Second that.

    • Does the 2% cashback also apply to Android Pay/Apple Pay?

        Yes.

        https://www.hsbc.com.au/content/dam/hsbc/au/docs/accounts/tr…

Scroll down to page 11 and 12.

If you deposit at least $2,000 into your Everyday Global Account each calendar
month (and your Visa Debit card is linked to it) you can earn 2% cashback on
eligible purchases under $100 made from your Everyday Global Account where
you tap to pay with Visa payWave, Apple Pay and Google Pay™. You will be
eligible to earn cashback from the time of eligible deposit is made until the end of
last banking day of the following calendar month. Cashback will be paid into your
Everyday Global Account, and the maximum cashback that can be earned is $50
        per calendar month.

  • Yes, I find it worth it for the paywave 2% cashback

  • How long does the 2% cashback last?

    • +1

There is no fixed end date on the offer.

It will last until the offer is withdrawn by HSBC.

  • I am with HSBC there 2% cash back is good there fix/variable loan rates are also pretty good probably the best all in one back you can get interms of savings account, loans etc

Sure you can do better in other places but for all banking in one place i recommend HSBC

  • Have had an account for a while but haven't used because lack of PAYID/OSKO payment annoys me now. I don't want to keep money in an account that isn't at least earning interest.
However, I realised today that I can add HSBC and my main account cards to Beam It, and instantly transfer money between them that way. So, my money is earning interest until I transfer and then I can spend it and get 2% cashback.
