      take ID with you…

  • why during office hours? why not after work, thursday, from 6 to midnight for example..

    • good question. maybe they want people to bludge extra lunchtime !??!

  • i can just imagine the chatime queue…

i saw people holding 10 cups when they had buy 1 get 1 free at Chatime George St Event Cinemas so im guessing… HEAPS OF PEOPLE.

note: I waited 1/2 hr to get my hands on chatime when it was buy 1 get 1 free…

    • Can someone shed some light on this franchise and their products? I don't understand what is so spectacular about their drinks.

High in sugar, with barely any regard for choice of tea leaves used, let alone in a plastic cup with hot water poured into it allowing for the strength of plastics to fail, before adding ice. Other flavours are pretty much engineered from a laboratory, mass produced in a factory with little to minute amounts of natural ingredients. Put it simply, its just another bubble tea shop?

To top it off, it is not even cheap.

And the play on the words "Cha"time, assuming "cha" means tea in mandarin, to form the word Chat Time? Seriously, I've been asking people, and nobody has a good explanation for this. Yet, it seems to be a massive hit.

Thanks for helping clarify, if anyone can do so please!

      • You are correct in the assumption that 'CHA' means tea, but in Cantonese (e.g., yum cha = drink tea). There's no play on words. I don't think the founders/owners had any intention of associating the word 'chat' with their business, they just formed a chain name by fusing a Chinese word and and English word.
