Where to Buy Japan Import Products

Suddenly have a crave of this instant noodle that I had back when I was in Japan, personally I think this is one of the best instant noodle I ever had!

I don't think this is sold anywhere here in Sydney…so, does anyone know where to get these? Or any other Japanese snacks/foods that you can't get from usual Japanese groceries?

Maybe an online shop that is quiet reasonable with their prices?

I MISS JAPAN

    I live in Japan, but a good 90km from a 7/11.

I think remote shoppers will be a future job pretty soon, like uber eats but sending food/ingredients from other countries.

Last i checked, its 2300yen for under 2kg shipping to Brisbane. I sent some tea to a friend and it took about 5-6 weeks, because it had to go by ship and not plane.

    Japan misses you too buddy

    • Yeah you cant use EMS at the moment which sucks :(
Was trying to get some stuff from Amazon Japan via Tenso for my partners birthday

      I miss when i lived there :)

wow, you must have lived in a rural area of Japan?

I think this is still cheaper if i buy many things from there. I looked at that nissin noodle in amazon before, I saw one selling for $12/each lol…If I remember correctly, the price in Japan only costs around 300Y, which is roughly around $4.5….can you send me some :D

I really need to start a business with it, because that demand will only increase. If I sold you $60 worth of japanese goods, they'd all be $2-4 items and you'd be getting $22 worth, as the rest is shipping and service.

All of the 7/11 stuff is great. the chocolate brownies and cookies are better than fresh subway cookies. Similar to the noodles you want, a lot are special, seasonal or localised. I never touch the instant noodles, I always buy fresh.

And yes, I'm very rural, on an island. There's a lot of Japanese products I cannot get where I am, and Japan doesnt even ship to me! I also recommend kimchi mayonnaise.

When i was in your situation when i first came here, wanting some foreign food i couldnt source, i ended up finding the recipe and making what i needed. it was much simpler and better method to get what I wanted.

I think you should, and when you do, let me know :D

Here's the selection at my local. Sorry haven't been to the sole konbini in the area in a while. They usually have a rare collection. I dont eat the stuff.

And i sent a box to brisbane for 1300円, it was just under 1kg (i think under 2kg is 2300円) and i could probably fit 5 into the box.

            • @DarthAntz: Ah I miss going to konbini in Japan!!

So 1300 yen its only for delivery right? for was that what you charged total when sending to Brisbane?

              • @Taro Milk Tea: yes, by boat (probably 6 weeks, hasnt arrived yet) and under 1kg.

                I sent some other items.

                Send me a PM

      • wow, you must have lived in a rural area of Japan?

I don't think 7-11s are 90km apart even in rural areas
They might live in the sky

        • This is an old article, but I'm pretty sure shikoku still has no 7-11s.

Theres 2 konbini's where I live, popura, and theyre only in remote parts of Japan.

Often I'll stock up on 7/11 goods when I visit the big smoke.

Because of Corona, I havent left this place since early March.

We stayed as long as we could, I took nearly that exact photo on March 16.

Surely an Asian supermarket would have them. Otherwise you can also try Daiso (Melbourne Daiso sell food, not sure about Syd)

    • Not that specific brand of noodle.

  • +4

Where in Sydney do you live? I would check out Miracle or Tong Li supermarkets…or any similar asian supermarket.

Northbridge there is a Tokyomart that might have it.

There's also a small Japanese store at 303 Pitt St in the CBD.

    • I lived in eastern suburb.

I heard about that Japanese shop in Northbridge, but it's too far for me. Maybe one day I will give it a visit.

      • +3

do it before they lock the city again…it is not looking good at the moment

Or atleast, call the place to see if they have it

      • I saw Japanese food items in Chinatown. Their prices seemed very reasonable as well. I remember going to one decent sized store at the corner of Thomas St and Ultimo Rd.

    • +1

The store in Pitt St is called Conveni8 and it's got a decent selection of instant noodles. I found the prices a bit expensive probably because they're imported from Japan

  • +1

Couldn't find the specific item but this store has a huge range
    https://ichibajunction.com.au/

    • Seems like there are not many varieties of the instant noodles there..

  • +2

Try google for Fuji Mart or Tokyo Mart.
I usually go to Fuji Mart at Buranda Village in Brisbane.
Good choice of noodles, curry mixes, miso, sake and genuine japanese beer. Prices are fair considering shipping costs and rent/salary for staff.

Cool, but OP is in Sydney?

  • +2

    Try also
    * Japanese grocer https://www.facebook.com/maruyu.sydney/ on Kent St, Sydney
    * Thai Kee IGA https://www.facebook.com/ThaiKeeIGA/ (this one even has the Ichiran instant ramen, but $$$)
    * Daiso at Town Hall has a variety of instant ramen from Japan, but not sure about that one

Tokyomart as others have mentioned is one of the largest Japanese grocers in Sydney.

      Pricing seems quite reasonable?

Its in USD and don't forget to include the shipping fee as well, so not really actually..

      • Well…if you really want to eat it :)

Cheaper than Amazon.com.au though…that was shocking

        https://www.amazon.com.au/Nissin-Instant-Ramen-Nakiryu-Tanta…

I am trying to find this instant noodle in Melbourne…

        https://shopee.sg/Taiwan-TTL-Hua-Diao-Chicken-Instant-Noodle…

        Slowly hunting…

        • haha definitely really want to eat it! But I can't really justify myself at that price :(

Yeah forget amazon, i have checked it as well before.

Is that Taiwan noodle any good?

          Stay safe in Melb!

          • @Taro Milk Tea: Thanks, stuck indoors on Ozbargain!

The taste of the chinese cooking wine is quite strong so it really depends on whether you like that taste.

I just cook chicken noodles and dump a whole heap in, gets close but still not there.

Eat plenty when I go back to Singapore and reminisce about the taste when I get back here…

Better stay safe in Sydney too, seems like it's getting out of control over the border too

  • +2

Highly unlikely for a 7-11 branded product to end up here in a retailer, I think. You'd have better luck on eBay, or finding someone to mail it to you

    • Oh, I completely missed it was 7-11

  • Japan City?

  • i previously purchased a couple in Glen Waverley melbourne, in a small gift and snack shop

i'll hazard a guess that the store owner brought it back in their suitcase and put it on the shelf at high price. from memory $15-$17

it's a 7-11 exclusive best bet just wait till covid is over and buy it yourself in japan.

    • . from memory $15-$17

Dang….I should have bought more when I was in Japan and resell it here :D

it's a 7-11 exclusive best bet just wait till covid is over and buy it yourself in japan.

Ah…..it will be a longgg waittt

      • sydney to haneda on ANA is 137,000 yen return for 2x adults in mid october for 2 weeks. if you are game

  • Ther is a new Japanese shop in Hurstville not long open if u like can get number and let u know

You'll need it to work with tenso though

    • 4 packets of that ramen, sold domestically in japan, for nearly 1万円 (~$140 AUD). This stuff must be gold.

I've had some amazing Tori-ten in Japan. Its a speciality in Nagasaki because of the Chinese influence in history.

      Good find!

  • Not sure this place has the one you’re after, but they do take online orders from Brisbane:

    http://genkimart.com.au/

  • I've used dokodemo in the past with good results.

  • You could try Little Tokyo in Adelaide. They may be able to import them from for you. They're desr, but you get the real deal.

Otherwise, some Asian supermarkets are willing to do it. Also for a price.

    Good luck.

  • I'd recommend Ichiban Delicious, it isn't the same, but I reckon you'd enjoy it
    https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/841640/ich…
    Australian beef too!

  • Try Oriental Express asian supermarket (https://www.google.com/search?gs_ssp=eJwFwUsKgCAUAEDaBp2gjZv…)

Might be a bit more accessible for you, quick bus from the city/central. Its in Camperdown, 96 Parramatta rd. Ive seen a few noodle packets that i havent seen in other asian grocers (i frequent asian grocers quite alot).

Ps. I miss Japan too :-(

  • sorry for the late response the place is called Super Orange it is downstairs in Forest road there but plenty of signage so you do not miss it
