  • can you change the language to english if it is chinese version?

    • +1

Yes, you can change the language to English via Mi Fit app, there is an option for Mi Band 5 in setting section.

      • Does it support any other languages other than English? Korean or Japanese? thanks

  • +1

There are rumors that there might be global version of Mi band 5 Pro with NFC.

    • Unfortunately not. Global version confirmed to be missing NFC and SpO2 blood oxygen tracking…

    • +3

i dont think 4 and 5 have any differnce….if NO NFC payment

so i will keep using 4 then

    • The version with no NFC is also the version that has no SpO2 sensor.

The SpO2 sensor measures blood oxygen levels, a measure of how well your lungs are working. It's also useful for detecting sleep apnoea. So you really want that sensor to be on board.

Some Mi Band 5 units sold on the Chinese domestic market have the SpO2 sensor. Some don't.

will the NFC work in AU for payments? if yes, then I'm in

    • can someone clarify this?

      • +5

no there is no NFC in Global version and NFC in cn version doesnt work outside china as it use Xiaomi Payments platform

  • This is around $25 - $27USD on AliExpress delivered unless I purchased a fake one 😕

    • Most likely a fake one sorry to say.

This is the store it was $25 USD on a sale last week. Fingers crossed it's not fake lol

        • The cheapest CN version is currently $28.99 US and that is before the extra 10% GST you will have to pay. Ends up about $46.39 AUD.

    • I found the real one costs around AU$43 on Aliexpress plus tax.

      • How do you know which one is real and which is fake in Aliexpress? I’m also thing getting this one from the link

  • Cheaper at aliexpress: $42.45 AUD delivered with GST included:

    https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001117114034.html?spm=a2g0o…

    • That does not include GST. GST is added when checking out. Price is actually closer to $46.39.

      • +1

there is a special flash sale which takes about $3 off when u add to cart final price shows $42.45

        • Even with a discount you still have to take GST into account. Current price $42.18 AUD plus 10% GST of $4.21 = $46.39 minus $3 discount = $43.39

  • Band 5 looks like 4, any noticeable differences between the two?

    • 5 is slightly larger and brighter screen

    • Also has better way of charging.

    • +4

any noticeable differences between the two?

      the price.

  • +1

I did my research and couldnt find any difference between CN and Global version specially if you are using English Language. CN version can be used in English, NFC present or not, useless to Aussie buyers, SPO2, we dont know for sure if it exist in CN version.

  • This or should I wait for the honor band 6?

    • +2

This is basically MI's answers to Honor band 5, so no reason to get it really, wait for Honor 6 to see if it has new features.

  • $43 at gearbest from email

    Gearbest selling in $43

  • +1

The NFC included in Chinese version is not a standard NFC. It can only be used for Xiaomi’s own payment platform, called Mi-Pay. So no benefit in paying extra for the NFC version.

    • What about Spo2?

      • Do you really need that? And in case you do need it for some medical reasons, would you rely on this band for that…????

        • -1

Rewind 30 years… do you really need a computer?
Life has existed for millions of years without it.

Thanks for clarifying about their NFC implementation, it is much appreciated.

EDIT: And the answer is yes, within the past couple minutes alone, I have thought of an easy good reason to use one.

Sleep apnea diagnosis. Lots of people have sleep apnea and don't know it.

"Many patients suffering from obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) have intermittent oxygen desaturation associated with periods of apnea or hypopnea. Oxygen saturation levels below 90% are considered harmful."

          • @So lo: You didn’t get my point.
Spo2 measure can definitely be important for some. But if it is that important, would you rely on the reading from a cheap budget Chinese band for that?

            • @usmanhafeez2000: I think you're making an assumption that all uses are of medicinal level requirements, but given the tech that isn't just complete potato, people will find ways to use it at the least as an indicator, like heart rate sensors in these smart watches - they've been proven to not be as accurate as expensive chest strap on monitors, but plenty of people find value in them and their associated apps as motivational tools. A HR monitor isn't ever going to make you run like a Kenyan marathon runner, but I guarantee its gotten a ton of people off their couches and exercising. Net positive despite being inaccurate, and I think someone will find a way to do something similar with SpO2 monitoring.

      • +1

dont thinkSPO2 is there at all in band 5

      • From the comments on the linked site:

Does this have the blood oxygen sensor?

        Re: No, it hasn't."
