  • What’s a good DAC to use these mainly with a computer?

    • do you need a DAC at all?

      • How else is my pc plugging into these lol?

        • +3

Through an amplifier, not a dac.

You might use your onboard dac and connect your amp with RCA cables.
Or you might get an amp with an onboard dac and connect over USB or TOSLINK or coax.
Or you might buy a dac or a decent soundcard, connect that to your amp and then connect your PC to said DAC.

I use smsl q50 pro dac+amplifier which works well with 3020.

      • Cheers mate will check it out

  • How would these compare to Audioengine A5?

    • +1

The A5 is a powered speaker, so they aren't really the same product.

But for sound quality, it's not even close. The A5 sounds… fine. But that's not what you are really paying for.

  • Can (would anyone recommend) I use these with my TV?

    • +1

They're not active (powered speakers) so you need to use something to provide amplification. If you want to use with your TV, a basic AV receiver (AVR) would be the best bet.

I've got the bigger brother to these as use in surrounds for my TV and they're fine. These would probably be fine as left/right mains, but I imagine you'd want to add a sub as well, these won't go nearly deep enough to get that rumble in soundtracks.

  • A deal on the 3030i would be nice :-)

    • We currently have those down from $999 to $888 for the pair but give us a call and we'll see if there's anything more we can do on those for you :)

  • +1

    They are great little speakers.

  • can you send via Express Post? I live in a remote part of Australia that will take forever to arrive by anything other than Australia Post Express Post. Happy to pay difference in fee.

    • For something this big and heavy? It's not going to be cheap.

      • 8kg total weight. It won't be too excessive

    • Give us a call on (03)94169943 and we can give you a price on express posting :)

  • can this be use for SM 500 Karaoke .Thanks in advance

    • +1

You cannot connect these straight into the product you have linked. That karaoke will need to be connected to an amplifier as a source and the speakers will connect to the amplifier speaker terminals. I hope this makes sense :)

Thanks FunkyDan. It does make sense! Just wasn't sure.

  • Looking to buy bookshelf speakers for my computer setup, What additional things do I need in order for it be used with my computer?

    • +1

You would need an amplifier. Or a DAC/amplifier combination if you want better quality output then your computer would provide.

If you want a cheap DAC/amplifier starting point try SMSL AD18.
