Seems a little hefty when a 3pk on Aliexpress is around $15 bucks…whats the difference?

    • +3

Based on comments on previous posts, they're pretty much the same thing (just without branding which is probably better anyway).

Only thing is AliExpress usually has massive minimum order quantities - do you have a link to a 3 pack? I'd definitely buy if available.

        Also interested

      • I was interested so did a search on AliExpress for 'bamboo underwear' and the first result is a 3 pack for under $15. No idea on quality but might give it a shot.

  • +3

These are good value at this price, since they're long they don't ride up (main reason for my purchase) for me. But be honest, who else is freeballing during WFH?

    • +5

      ummm… tmi

      lol

    • guilty

  • what is the diff this vs step one ?

    • I just got some step ones but haven't tried them yet. These are good. Probably much the same.

      • +4

These look nothing like step ones. Dick and balls look squashed and material looks thin and cheap. Step one have a way stretchier pouch. On 3 years of wearing step ones I've never had to adjust and they've never ridden up. I wouldn't risk anything else.

    • Tbh having tried both I honestly prefer these over stepone's my stepone's basically fell apart after a few months of use and every pair I had all had the same pilling issue on the "lycra" panels which made them uncomfortable to wear.

These have started pilling but not nearly as bad as my stepones

*That being said this specific deal isn't exactly a bargain, I got mine with this deal which is about $2 a pair cheaper

      • +1

I've worn step ones every day for around 3 years and I've never had this issue.

Almost $15 a pair is not an ozbargain deal. "Save $110" seems like a dubious markup to me. Haven't online retailers learnt from Kogan's recent fines….this feels more like false mark ups to overstate discounts….

    • +6

Ah yes, the "only really cheap things are good things" brigade has arrived.

    • +3

I don't agree with your justification for a neg - some products are more expensive than seemingly comparable competitors. $15 a pair of quality bamboo jocks isn't at all extravagant to me - that's the cost of a terrible pair cotton Bonds briefs.

      • Well when they've had them on here forcheaper only 2 months ago its semi justified https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/537260

        • Price alters with exchange rate. They don't come from Australia.

          • +2

@dmbminaret: Aussie dollar is ~10% stronger vs cny compared to when deal was posted.

            • @rekabkram: Why cny? What about USD? I'm not sure, I just figured that cause I bought in the last deal but noticed a slightly different price on Facebook.

    • +1

Why is $15 for a pair of quality bamboo jocks not an ozbargain deal?

Link me to some cheaper bamboo jocks and ill check them out

  • +1

6 pack Bonds ones I got for $25 recently seem perfectly comfortable.

    • +2

pics or it didn't happen :^)
      lol

      • plenty of bonds website if you are interested to see man's underwear

      Bamboo or cotton?

  • +1

Target sells bamboo undies too. Cant remember exactly how much but was definitely under $30 for a 3 pack.

  • +2

Regular price $184 for 5 are you having a laugh mate

Yeah don't support Rayon or Viscose.

It is absolutely terrible for the environment and requires not only egregious amounts of water, but also releases large amounts of carbon disulphide and sulphuric acid to create the 'viscose cellulose emulsion' which is eventually turned into threads.

Tencel made from eucalyptus is a far more sustainable option, and even polyester is considered less toxic (micro particles excepting).

    • I agree. Hemp or Tencel are far more environmentally friendly and use far less resources.

While I don't really agree with that silly retail price, I did get three of these once and I can attest that they are really nice. (I haven't tried the Aliexpress ones or the cheaper ones so I can't compare). I'm not necessarily giving this a plus 1, but I do think the product is good.

Aren't this style of undie sweaty in summer?

I wear briefs, these seem to have the disadvantages of boxers and briefs but not the advantages.

    • Bamboo breathes quite well, so they don't get quite as sweaty as you'd imagine.

  • +1

Bamboo is known for its cooling and wicking (moving moisture away from your body) feature. I have bought these underwear and I am very happy with them. Expensive but good quality

    • are your talking about Rayon or Lyoscell or bamboo leaves around your crouch ?
most common "bamboo fabric" is Rayon, and that can be made from "any" cellulose base - in the end it is chemically the same if made from bamboo or birch. in that case the statement is just marketing bs

      • Whatever these guy are doing/using are working. I find going for a run in these a much more pleasant experience over a cotton pair

  • Have both

    The difference..
The waist band and sizing .

Perfect have an slightly less comfortable waist band.(stepone have a new waist band since November last year.)
The sizing is different, perfect I think is slightly smaller compared to stepone in size marking .

I prefer stepone at the moment as they are true to sizing

    • I have noticed the perfect ones waist band rolls a lot, but I'm fat so there's that.

      • HHmm, I'm not particularly fat (75Kg @ 174cm) but all of my current waistbands on underwear roll. Would love to find a pair where that does not happen.

I got some CK ones from New York in a discount store for US$17 for 3 pair. Best undies ever. I think they're microfibre or something but I'm wishing I had have bought 10 packs. No rolling.

          • @dmbminaret: Might be a while before I'm in NY though….

I'll have a look online. Thanks for the info.

  • Just don’t go near a panda when you wear these.

So these arrived today, 4 weeks delivery on the dot - as expected.

These are the first pair of Bamboo underwear i have ever tried on and these are incredible - super soft, perfect fit. Big step up from cotton underwear, well worth the price on first try. These will be great to run or gym in, hope they hold up

Now lets see if they pass the longevity test…. surely something this soft and comfortable cant stay this way for too long.
