    Switch Tax strikes again

    • -1

This is entirely and 100% EB Games' doing.

The Ultimate Collection on PS4/XB1 contains all 4 games on Disc whereas the Ultimate Collection on Switch is Trine 4 and a download code for the first 3.

That piece of paper somehow makes EB justify charging $39 for the Ultimate collection on switch. That's not cartridge cost associated. Just one expensive piece of paper.

This is entirely and 100% EB Games' doing

No it is not. It is a publisher decision. EB sell-though reflects the margin they have available to work with:

GameTrust published all four games physically for the Switch in the USA.

Modus (a spin-off of Maximum) got the Switch rights for Australia. They went with Trine 4 on cart and 1-3 as DLC. The DLC got wholesale pricing as thought it was on the cart.

        • Look at their original prices, Trine 4 is the same price on PS4 and Switch. Discounted the Switch copy is more expensive.

          • @Wonderstache: Sorry, this is irrelevant to the argument that it's "…100% EB Games' doing…"

            • @[Deactivated]: So EB doesn't decide the prices for their discounts?

              • @Wonderstache: I'm not spending and more time on this thread trying to explain the mechanics of the pricing. All the best.

        • I'd like to see your source for this info

  • How is this game? It's worth for buying. Thanks

Trine is a great series, very fun to play with friends/family. Definitely give Trine 2 a shot, best game in the series hands down.

      • Agree. If you don't care for/need the physical media, hit up the eShop and just get 1 & 2 and skip the others.

I think many say trine 4 isn't good but trine 2 is good.

Trine 2 is still $7 on the eshop.

    • Haven't played Trine 4 yet, but 3 abruptly ends halfway through the story and rolls the credits.
Turns out the studio ran out of money and just went with what they had done. It's fun up until that point, but only get it on sale

Trine 1 and 2 are good.

    • This. 3 & 4 are kind of steamers ;-)

    • I just bought Trine 2 from eshop. Do I need to play Trine 1 first or doesn't matter? Thanks

  • Picked this the Trine: Ultimate Collection last week on PS4. $19 for 4 games, figured it was worth a punt.

  • Trine ultimate Collection, does it matter what console I get it on, PS4 or Xbox. I’m guessing they both would be the same?

Thanks for the heads up, I picked up the last copy in my local EB for $10 on PS4. I'll see how it goes with my son playing coop.

  • I held off but bought it for the switch a few days ago. It's great that the deal is still going.
