  • Thanks OP.

  • Thanks. Never got the stupid $10 discount despite having done their pet profile. Has all the 3000 been claimed?

Edit - am chasing them up, they're still advertising it so will see if they apply it.

  • Anyone have experience half dosing smaller dogs using large dogs packs?

      • So is this a chew or a spot on or a tablet and is it scored for cutting?

Would be good if someone who's used this can comment

        • So is this a chew or a spot on or a tablet

It's ointment. They don't eat it.

    • It's a liquid so that link doesn't apply.

I'm doing it at the moment and was going to for a couple more months as I have the 25+kg for my shepherd and also have a cattle dog that is around 16kg now. I was using the 4-10kg thru his puppy stage but as that ran out, I didn't get the 10-25kg pack yet so have been using half the 25+kg dose on him.
No fleas and no side effects….but will grab both sized packs in this deal.

It's hard to say exactly how much you need but the smaller packs seemed just like a smaller bottle, didn't compare active ingredients. If you were doing it long term, may be worth putting it in to a plastic syringe and dosing it that way.

      • Thanks for your answer. The issue with liquids most sites mention is the active ingredient not being evenly distributed and therefore by using the right proportion of liquid yiu aren't guaranteeing the right proportion of the ingredient, which may result in under dosing or overdosing which both can potentially have bad flow on effects.

Usually I would say just shaking it before application should be OK, as long as the ingredients are not way heavier or lighter than the bearer liquid, but theres probably no way to be sure, and companies are unlikely to do research on ways you can pay them less to use their product

        • For the flea treatment component at least, my understanding is that it is distributed through the lipid system, ie.through the skin, and that the skin is pretty clever at doing that, so the spot on liquid is very effective.

    • +1

I've done it for my dog and she is 9years old now. Never had any issues with it at all and alot cheaper.

      What i do is:
      1. Buy a glass vial (5ml is usually enough), you can get this from a $2 shop or on ebay, smaller the better, less evaporation within the vial.
      2. Pour the contents of Advocate 25kg into the glass vial
      3. Buy a box of disposable syringes which has the scales within the ML e.g. 3-10ml, make sure you choose one that is appropriate for the measurement you will be taking
      4. Put remaining meds in the fridge, and when you take it out for next time, give it a very good shake.

My pet is only 2.5kg so a vial lasts me AGES.

      • Good to hear, mine is 3kg,and some things aren't even made for pets that small. I also don't really want to be dosing my 3kg with enough meds for a dog more than 3 times the size.

But does it even need to be in the fridge? It's not when you buy it

        • I fridge it so it decreases evaporation. Since the vial you get will have significantly more air or empty volume.

Where as if you get the packets they are usually sealed air tight and small as possible to reduce evaporation.

    • They have Advocate for cats, and my understanding was that it was derived from the dog treatment. Check with your vet if the cat does would be suitable - they have doses for cats less than 4kg and cats more than 4kg.

  • Ordered the >25kg S&S every six months.
Was 79.65 but after discount 17.97 off brings it to 61.68.
So I guess I got my $10 pet profile discount as well as the 10% s&S discount?
Either way, thanks OP. Buying this from pet shops is stupid expensive.

  • My furry hates Advocate. Then go to the vet for injection for heartworm $133

    • My furry hates Advocate.

They're not supposed to eat it…

      • No, it needs to be on their skin

        • it needs to be on their skin

I put it on my dogs fur.

  • I would get the >25kg one then use a disposable syringe (Without needle) to measure out the portion for your pet, then store it in a vial in the fridge for next time. Saves heaps more money. I got these small glass vials from $2 shop or was it Daiso, which then allows me to store unused portion in the fridge.

$79 for six pack of 4ml each.

Where as the one posted here is:
$72.26 for six pack of 2.5ml.
So effectively getting the >25kg one you get almost double the amount of juice for a similar price.

  • damn the cat one isn't discounted
