Hi all, stumbled upon this deal in ebay. I grabbed one to distract myself from the construction noise next to my apartment.

if you're spending ~$250 on wireless earbuds, spend an extra $30 on brand new ones at amazon/mobileciti fr

    • Was able to say that, can never be too sure about eBay refurb

  • Thats too logical. You can pay $30 less and use a refurb pair that someone has put into their ears multiple times.

I personally don’t think these are a great deal, but don’t make things up. I contacted Sony in regards to a previous refurbished headphones deal on their eBay store, they told me that refurbished products were new and unused, but generally just had damaged outer packaging.

    • refurb != used

  • I remember paying 199 brand new not long ago

$225 never used ex-display, also on ebay

Why would you pay more for refurbs?

ebay deal is cheaper for same product unused. Not a deal as pointed out by @freezies

That's the part that gets me. They bought a pair on ebay but obviously didn't even do a basic search while there. You'd think with a username like broke student they'd be a little more stringent. (No offence to the OP)

Generic packaging, scuffs, opened and tested. Sold more than 60 of them… Sounds like refurbs, not display stock. How many do you need to display?

  • You must be crazy to pay this much for a refurb pair of these. Bought them brand new for $199 in late March from this popular deal

  • Has been cheaper for NEW in the past. Just do a search

    Stop kink shaming

Some people enjoy music more when it's filtered through other people's ear wax

I saw a Louie theroux special on it

Don't think it is a good deal. I paid $245 a couple of weeks ago at JB after price match - brand new.
    Nice earbuds though.

  • You can get new ones here priced matched with David Jones for free shipping + order online as a new user and you get a $10 discount on your first purchase. Just got my refund so that works out to be $234 for a new set. Or have JB price match using gift vouchers from AGL (if a member).

I bought a 'refurb' set from Sony on eBay a while ago. They were completely brand new and sealed, the outer packaging box just said "repack" on it. From what I've read, this is pretty much always the case with Sony 'refurb' items.

Nice why couldn’t they just indicate if as damaged packing or as repackage items than refurb. It just gives people the sense that it’s been used.

Probably because this is an official Sony run account that is just a side project by some employee who just doesnt give a shit.

They would rather under report and still get a wage and send less, like who cares since they're a billion dollar multinational.

  • I've bought 2 refurbished headphones from Sony ebay… both brand new in shrink wrap… i think they put them up on ebay to get rid of excess stock.

  • Part of refurbishment is cleaning the ear wax I suppose

  • I'd wait for a deal on a new pair, I paid $250 for mine at JB Hifi (Price matching amazon) earlier in the year, they seem to go on sale frequently. I'd always pay an extra 5% for new product which has an inbuilt battery, You don't know what you're getting always with refurbished.
