Upgrade to RX570 from 1050ti?

Hi

Currently using a Zotac 1050Ti 4gb that I bought off Gumtree for $175. Found a RX570 for the same price.
Was wondering if it's worth it swapping over?

Heard that the Radeon software isn't that good. This true?

Thanks

P.S. Using a 700w PSU, so power is no concern

  • It's about 30% more powerful on average, depends if that's worth it for you or want to save up for a bigger jump later on.

AMD drivers generally aren't as great as nVidia but majority works perfectly fine. You're unlikely to have issues with mainstream products.

  • One gotcha might be power. Rx570 is 125watts vs 75watts for 1050ti.

    Check your psu

Probably not worth it as they shouldn't cost to much more new.

This joint has an Asrock model for $190

175 seems high for a used rx570 … still paying covid premium ?

performance wise , worth the upgrade as 1050ti is borderline 60fps 1080p , so that 10-15fps extra from rx570 is very noticeable

Agree with you, the cheapest new rx570 only sell for $199 @msy and other shop as well , why not get the new one with warranty with extra $24

  • I'm liking the RX580 actually. RX570 is the best bang for buck but, RX580 is pretty close and the other options 5500XT or 1650 S just don't make sense at their current price, so that'd be the way to go unless you want to go up a tier. EDIT: and it has another 15% performance, makes more sense to get that one with 8GB too for low setting higher resolution gaming, could even do 4K on some simpler titles.

Keep in mind, new GPUs in a couple of months, RTX 3000 series and RDNA 2 (AMD's next GPUs) slated for some time in the next 4 months so, that'll push prices back to something better probably.

  • If you're swapping your GTX 1050 Ti to someone else's RX 570… worth it.

But if you're buying the RX 570 for $175 to upgrade, and now have a spare GPU (GTX 1050 Ti) that you might end up selling for $100… umm, not worth the effort.

I would expect when you're doing an upgrade that it would be something worth it. Nvidia has the advantage of better software support and better efficiency, and the performance uplift isn't that much. Plus there's the risk of getting a "mining card". You kind of have the same issues when looking at the RX 580 and the RX 590. Hence, I would much prefer to recommend an RX 5600 XT (or higher) instead. On the Team Green, I think the GTX 1060 is getting long in the tooth, it might be better to instead look at the GTX 1070, GTX 1660-Super, or RTX 2060 (or higher) instead.

  • just wait and later upgrade to RTX2060 or RTX2060 Super

  • depends on if you need the performance, personally i would never upgrade gpu if it is <50% performance bump. the rx 570 will consume way more power depending on how much you use it and power bills alone can justify keeping the 1050 ti

the 570 is basically a pre-overclocked 470 and if you keep an eye out for aliexpress sales they can be had at a much better price:
