    im in the same boat

I hear they are kinda the same, just sticking with daikan because its what my installer prefers.

He probably prefers it because it has more margin too

    • Hard to get independent advice ,each installer said what they generally sell, in Perth so don't know if there's much varsity to be had

      • Variety ,one guy said Panasonic stocks where hard to get with covid

  • I was weighing up those two plus Mitsubishi electric
Ended up going ME due to the cash back promo , better wifi abilities , and suited my zoning setup

    • Are you in Perth? Cost to install? Would be very interested in getting a quote from your installer

      • About as far from Perth as could be :)

  • Considered an Australian made unit?
We installed an ActronAir 19kW/18kW unit ducted to 7 zones, each with individual zone controllers, and wi-fi control for about $22,000 Couldn't be happier with the system

    • Hi thanks, I'd consider any brand aslong as they're reliable and efficient ,yours sounds large for a normal 4/2 house I'm in,maybe something smaller would do us

  • They do make a full range - what location are you?

    • Nr Guildford

  • My GFs place has Fujitsu and I find the outside units noisy. She had a breakdown of 1 unit (of 3) recently and for the cost of repair she could have replaced it (she didn't ask me first).

I have a Daikin and can't fault it and it's cheap to run. I pay <$1/day to heat my house to 19c while WFH.

We replace about 6 ACs a year at work (we have a few hundred sites). Our electrical boffins say Daikin or Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. Daikin have their own warranty techs and MHI use sub-contractors. We've found MHI can be a bit of a pain to get somebody on site but a lot of our stuff requires a lengthy drive.

    • Cheers mate thanks for the info, that was one of my biggest concerns was , fast repairs ,all machines break, but seems from some reviews can take weeks to get spare parts for some brands , usually breaking in the hottest months of course 🙂

Why not just go with regular split systems?
We recently had to replace a ducted aircon, and ended up spending half the money on 3x splits.

I don't really see the benefit of a ducted system in general, especially given their premium. They're a bit more discreet, but ripping out the ceiling to repair them kinda kills that. And they might be a bit more efficient, but their effectiveness is more sensitive to duct layout and control sophistication. Now we don't have to cool all bedrooms at the same time, or have them overheating because the thermostat in the living room is reading cold.

    • We have evap which is shit in Perth in the summer, every quote we've got in them prices includes removing the old evap.and putting the ducted into them old holes with new ducting and grills,
we have a long hall open kitchen dining living area ,.

any person we've had come out says go for ducted ,over splitss costs/struggling over a large open area. Buy so many, cheaper outlay for ducted etc

we're looking zoned duct ac , so will only need one or 2 zones on max for our needs at moment with these ezone controllers

  • We put in a Daikin about 18 months ago. Can't fault it, haven't had an issue at all and the outside unit is quieter than the split system it replaced.

    • Cheers , mate 👍

    • Did you go for inverter or premium?

      • Couldn't tell you, I have no idea. It's 14kw, single phase with a zone controller, that's about as much as I could tell you without digging out the paperwork

        • Hi robbyjones, I am looking at getting 14kw daikin system. Do you remember how much you paid for it?

          • @Ninjaboy: Just checked the receipt, $8900 installed in 2018

            • @robbyjones: @robbyjones Thanks for replying. thats good price. I got a quote of $13,500.

              • @Ninjaboy: I used BSC Group Solutions, they may have some affiliations in Adelaide. I got the 14kw Daikin ducted, 9 square vents, 1 control panel and 4 zones, 5 year manufacturer and installation warranty.
