Bidet Installation, Reccomendations, Experiences?

Hello all,

I've been looking into purchasing a bidet recently, having travelled to Japan a few years back and discovering how great they are.

I've landed on the basic kogan brand model as a possible candidate as it seems to be the best value for money (Japanese Toto washlets are great but very expensive). Does anyone have experience with this model?

I also am questioning if it'll fit on my toilet. I've got a fairly standard seat but nowhere on the site can I see a guide to let me know if it'll fit or not. I'm fairly sure I'd be able to install it myself too (no plumber), is this wise?

Kind regards, dgh.

I have a xiamoi whale spout for $399 but I don's see many left in Australia.
There should be measurements in the manual?

I tried to look for those toilet seat washers as well, a lot of them don't fit standard Australian bowls and overhang at the front a bit. So I gave up looking.

Check that your water outlet and power point are on the correct side.
Water should be on the left and power on the right for most bidet seats I believe.
If you don't have a toilet flush with the wall it might not be a problem.
Not directly related but might help, speaking from experience :)

  • I bought one of these manual devices (doesn't need power), was simple to install (needed an adapter from Bunnings as the American thread on the pipe wasn't compatible)
Its been really good, in fact my wife got me to get another one for the other toilet

Of course technically it is not legal to install yourself, and you should also have a RPZ backflow valve installed

    • Thanks, which end did you need the adapter for? Can you provide a link to the adapter?

  • Bought this in April https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/522615
    Round version
All the Xiaomi and Bunnings versions are too big for my standard Aus toilet bowl.
Installation of both the seat and the new PowerPoint costed about 200

    So far so good.

  • You are legally not allowed to install this yourself, A backflow prevention device MUST be installed if the device does not include one. I Form 9 for the backflow device must be completed and submitted to the authorities. A Backflow privation device cannot not be installed by anyone else but a Plumber with a backflow prevention endorsement on their licence.
