Pretty damn cheap if you ask me considering it comes with a real electric guitar by a reputable brand. Click on the '9 new' link and click on the Amazon listing to get the cheapest price, and select expedited shipping at checkout. It's currently sold out so there's a wait of 2-3 weeks. The guitar itself looks to be worth ~$215: http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/Instruments-/166070/i.html?_nkw=e…

There is currently no Australian release date for this game and it's scheduled for release in Europe sometime in 2012, so there may be a long wait to get it locally. I believe the game is region free for both consoles, but please check to make sure.

EDIT: It appears that the Xbox version is region locked, so only buy it if you have a hacked console.

EDIT: I've just received an email from Amazon that stock will be arriving on October 25 (at least for my order).

Despite the exchange rate being 1 AUD = 1.0336 USD, Amazon is exchanging it at 1 USD = 1.0103655461 AUD, making the total cost for me $218.21.
Looks good but I'll do a little more research before I deicide to spend that on a game (yes I know it's a real guitar which is why I'm contimplating it in the first place).

Seems like a non-guilty way to play games; yes I'm wasting time on games, but I'm also learning the guitar which seems a lot better way to spend my time. :)

    • There is a simple solution to that:
      28 Degress Mastercard :-D

      • Hmm, mastercard, which creates more problems online than solving them, yep, I'll go get a brand new credit card to save $6 in exchange rate. No Thanks. :)

        • +1

This card has saved me literally hundreds of dollars just this year alone.
It is a godsend whenever buying things online from oversees, ordering plane tickets, hotels, going on vacations and what not.
It hasn't been a hassle (online application, received card within 2 weeks), and their customer service is good.

          But that is just me.

I got a 28degrees mastercard purely for the no-fee currency exchanges, and it has saved me hundreds in exchange fees when shopping online (ESPECIALLY vs PayPal, their rates are a rort!).

As long as you pay off the card before the 55 day period, you wont be hit with any fees at all. Credit cards aren't the problem - people who overstep their financial boundaries are.

This is from someone who has been using a Debit Mastercard all his life till now.

  • For the 360, could it be region locked to NTSC/U ? I know Rock Band 1 and 2 were region locked, something to do with song licensing I believe.

This is from "JRAW" at Whirlpool - summary - don't get your hopes up re: import unless you have a modded or O/S console:

      From the official FB Page

For those of you in Europe who plan to import the game, we want to advise you to do so at your own risk. Here's some information that may help you with your decision:

-The XBOX 360 version of the game is region locked.
… -The PS3 version of the game is not region locked, but doesn't support PAL.
-The PSN store is region locked, and therefore you will not be able to download DLC outside of your region.

      • It looks like only the Xbox is region locked, so I'll remove it from the post.

        Rocksmith went on to clarify:

To clarify: the region locked XBOX 360 version will function properly in North, Central and >South America. The PS3 version will work anywhere, but the PSN store will only provide the DLC to >North, Central and South America.

The PSN store thing is the same with all imports. You can just make a US PSN account if you want DLC.

  • I'm interested in this but I might wait for the PC version

I got this email from Amazon:

          Hello,

We have good news! We're able to get this part of your order to you faster than we originally promised:

          "Rocksmith Guitar Bundle"
          Previous estimated arrival date: November 21 2011 - December 06 2011
New estimated arrival date: October 28 2011

  • mine arrived today! =D
looks pretty … now i should learn how to play, i shall begin with 'Doh'? =<

  • Mine also arrived today… Haven't played with it yet…

  • well… what do you guys think?

    • Just to make it clear, I have not played a guitar before, nor do i know anything about guitars or rock music for that matter..

The game is interesting, and I am slowly learning how to struck a string or two, the sound is great once i plugged my PS3 sound into my sound system.

I think if you have some basic guitar training ie, dont have to look at your hands for every single note, its a fun game.

Let me know if you want to know anything in particular.

      • sounds good… I'm just considering asking this as a xmas pressie..

  • Unfortunately due to circumstances outside of my control I won't be able to try it until the 19th of November. I will definitely provide some more info at that time.
All I can say in the meantime is that I'm very impressed with the quality of the guitar that was included in the deal. Mind you, I don't know a thing about electric guitars, I'm simply commenting on the apparent build quality (it seems really solid and hefty, was well packaged, looks great). I was expecting a much flimsier product for the price and to my surprise it seems like a good quality product.

    • keep us posted!

Ok, I've now played the game for a few days and can give some feedback.
For reference, I'm a complete guitar newbie, never having plucked a string in my life. I'm also no spring chicken.

        Positives:
The guitar feels quite good to hold. It makes me yell out lots of words like 'totally', 'awesome' and 'dude' randomly :)
Interestingly, the game received an automatic update as soon as I booted it up, so at least the PS3 version of the game is supported internationally.
Trying to keep up with the game is fun and there is so much content in there that it will take quite a bit of time before I feel the need for more (although I'd love a couple of arctic monkey songs…). The feeling I have so far is that this is a great tool for learning the guitar and if you don't learn with this, chances are other attempts will also fail. The best thing about it is that I had a great deal of fun as I practiced and I could see small but noticeable improvements in the results, the score being an obvious indicator as well. Does it allow you to become a guitar master in a few hours? Of course not! Chances are that it will take (me) years to become even remotely decent, but this would be the case no matter how (I) try to learn the guitar, and to find such a fun way to learn is a real boost to the chances of seeing the task through.
The game always makes sure the guitar is in tune and the guitar also comes with a regular "amp" cable in case you want to detach from PS3 and game.

        Negatives:
The loading times can be annoying. Having to wait between songs even if you choose "play again" should have been avoided by the developers. It doesn't spoil things too much, but it can become tiresome after a lengthy session and conducive to putting the guitar down for the day, or worse still (for those around me) have another beer while uttering 'this is totally awesome dude' in that 'Bill and Ted' kind of way.
Some game aspects need to be unlocked. Considering the type of game it is, I would have preferred all the aspects of the game to be available right away, but again, not a dealbreaker for me.

Overall, I love it and think it was a great investment. I'd recommend it to anyone wishing to learn to play the guitar or wanting a fun way to practice.
