    Well you've convinced me…

    • Good luck! At least you'll have someone to blame in 9months time if it doesn't work out.

  • Thanks! Missed out on the recent aldi deal. Here's my second chance

    • There were heaps left at my local aldi

      • Thanks. Do you know which is better by any chance? If the aldi one is better I'll try looking in other stores

  • Anyone know why we don't have rigid isofix seats in Australia? I can't work it out for the life of me. The lateral support is infinitely better than a belt, and so much easier to install.

    • not allowed under the Australian Standards AS/NZS 1754:2013 for child restraints. Currently, IsoFix can only be designed into seats that cater for rear facing or forward facing for children up to 4 years of age. Any seat that caters for children over 4 years, cannot have this added.

At this stage, there is no plans by the Standards Committee to have this added, due to IsoFix load bearing weights and IsoFix increases the occurance of submarining in booster seats

Edit, not sure why not the rigid specifically, but I guess another query for the standards people.

      • Driving to the shops with the kids in isofix seats…nek minute… Dive..dive..dive! ;)

There are no rigid isofix seats for ANY age group, forward or reverse facing in Australia.

Only those idiots at Volvo and Mercedes use em. Australian standards need to have a red hot look at themselves!

    • Does "European ISOFIX" in this article mean rigid ISOFIX? I know the roll-over scenario has often been trotted out as the differentiation between Australian and overseas standards, not sure if that's still current.

Rigid ISOFIX is supposed to require more rigidity in the seat and therefore increase the seat weight, and the weight rating of the ISOFIX connectors is already being pushed by 0-4 seats.

  • Comparable to Britax Maxi Guard?

    • No, it converts to a seatbelt booster

Harness mode: 42cm vs Maxiguard 51cm
Stop use: 57cm (in seatbelt mode) vs Maxiguard 51cm (still harnessed)

  • Is the Advanced move seat any good? We're due end if year and it looks like a good deal from what I've seen so far, but no reviews yet as it's brand new…

The Advance is a rebranded Luxi. It's rearfacing until 33.5cm which is really low. For reference, other cheaper seats can be as high as 35cm, with a second marker at 39cm.

    • Cant go wrong with the Babylove Ezy Switch (Kmart $159 or Baby Bunting $169) , has extended rear facing, easy to adjust harness button and headrest.

  • Thanks OP. Bought two today…Best converterible i've had to go into the back of a ute (Triton) as the tether tentioner is fixed at the top and thus is above the backseat in stead of in between the backseat and rear wall. Seriously half the time to install versus the Prime AP's I got from a previous deal.

Can definitely fit 3 of these easily (once I get an engineer to build and certify the middle third anchor point.)

  • Bought a Raptor Move yesterday to replace a seat that's falling apart. Will be taking it back today, the thing rattles and makes so much noise that it's like there's tapdancers in the back seat. Taking a closer look, the belt retainers under the seat are not secured and flap about, plus the head section is loose and makes a lot of noise. Junk.
