  • Apparently this can jump a massive diesel truck or a V12 Rolls Royce phantom, I don't believe that

    • +2

I'd say it would if the massive truck was 12v but most would be 24v. It has started my supercharged V8 that read 8v with a multi meter straight away. Very impressive for something that fits conveniently in the glovebox.

Wouldn’t the 2000A model that goes for $99 occasionally be a better option?

    • I had this and was fantastic. Unfortunately was stolen from my car but worked brilliantly for the few months I had it. Started a flat battery at least 6 times without recharge.

      • +1

I'd replace the battery after being flat so many times

Keen on the 2000a version as well for its usb-c charging port. Asked the seller on amazon if they will do a deal for it and will see what they say.

      • Please let us know

      • No dice: “ Thanks for your message, I am sorry to tell you that we are not sure about when the promotion for the 2000A jump starter will be running, we need to make a plan for it advancely[sic].”

        • +2

Well it currently has a $40 off code bringing it down to $109 (code been there few days now). I’m waiting for the price to drop into the 90s as well :)

The 2000A model is now at $99

    • Yes… handles motors up to 7 litres easily :)
The 2000a version comes on sale regularly @ Amazon.com.au (almost once a month sub A$99.00). Has more options including USB-C charging for your smartphone devices… (great during a long blackout, bushfire evacs etc). Holds a charge for months.

How likely would someone have a drill battery in their vehicle in the event of a dead car battery? Also not all power tool batteries have the appropriate terminals to use the above method like my Milwaukee or Dewalt units.

    • That car most likely has a pretty low power battery requirement. It wouldn't need much to charge it up. These things can be charged via USB, provide multiple jump starts per charge and can power many other components, including PD and QC charging. I don't know of any drill batteries that provide all of these features in a convenient package.

      • I thought I was commenting at OzBargain, not OzSplurging for convenience XD

  • Awesome, Thanks OP ….Just got one

Is this Rooboost one better (new model released in May) for a higher price? https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B07RDQ3L2H

Looks like it has one digital readout that shows percentage charged (I really like this feature), a digital voltage readout on the jumper cable, & phone wireless charging.

    • induction charging is really lossy, always better to use a cable imo.

  • +1

Got this exact unit and saved me countless times. Under lockdown my battery would usually go flat after parking the car for like 2-3 weeks. Always handy to have.

These things are amazing… so glad we bought one. We actually got the 2000A with USB-C charging and it worked a treat.

One of our cars was completely dead and it was able to start the car first time, every-time…. at least 20 times over a 1 week period.

  • good

  • Thank Op, finally can order one

  • Cheers OP. Grabbed one.

  • This is good. You can jump start your car, or you can jump start your phone.

    • if only it could kick start my heart.
