  • It is actually $12 for me in QLD.

    • Showing as $12 for me also (NSW)

  • Sweet, was waiting for this to go on sale again. Been cheaper in the past but close enough.

    • Same, it's very drinkable

  • +3

It's a Very Enjoyable Beer….. says so on the tin.

    • He speaketh the truth.

    • No he doesn't.

      • -5

Is that why the post got removed?

        • +1

Goats objected… that's why it got removed.

  • -1

    within 5km - yes

    • +8

If you're an alcoholic you're allowed to travel further for grog because it's essential travel.
Just don't drink & drive, that's still not allowed.

      • +21

        I believe arthur not jv

    • +7

      Not everyone lives in VIC

  • +5

I tried this before and it wasn't to my liking. It was light.

    • +9

I agree. I failed miserably to pick up any citrus notes. It just tasted like Carbonated water with beer "flavour".

    • +3

Agreed, but I got negged for saying the beer doesn't have a good after taste last time it was posted. It's just a bland beer

      • +1

Some get really sensitive with about their beer.

    • +1

Every Christmas I buy my partner a mixed 6 pack of the top rated beers and I was soooo excited for him to try this one (number 1). He hated it, but loved the others, and I thought maybe he was an idiot lol. It’s reassuring to see some people agree.

      • It's OK being an idiot, just so long as one is not a COVidiot.

        • Don't know why you were downvoted. There are idiots out there that still refuse to wear a mask when going out.

    • I find this beer to be much much better when it's ultra chilled. Put the glass and the can in the freezer for twenty minutes (make sure to set a timer). My partner is German and she finds this to be one of the easiest drinking beers here.

It would be a great beer to drink at the end of a long hike on the top of a mountain.

      • +1

        Mountain Goat?

      • she is faking it if she thinks this is a great bear or she is not german.

    • Yeh, when I first tried it (think was a free can during the BWS app scratch n win) thought it wasn't too bad, then bought a six pack on one of the Woolies docket coupons for $10 and wasn't at all like I remembered that first can tasting like.. Mildly Enjoyable Beer maybe. (Maybe tastes better when it's free, haha) Each to their own I guess.

  • This is actually pretty good tbh

  • +5

'GOAT’ is a simple, no-nonsense craft beer, with stripped back complexity.

So not the ‘Greatest of all time’ beer then?

    • -1

So not the ‘Greatest of all time’ beer then?

      Where does it state that?

      • +7

It's a joke based on GOAT being an acronym (especially in sport) for Greatest Of All Time.

    • +7

As Tenacious D would say, this is just a tribute.

      • It's more like somebody describing a tribute, but leaving out the essential details.

    • Yep. It is a farely average at best beer. Maybe if there was nothing else u settle for this.

  • +2

Had 6 packs of these, not my kind of beer, didn't enjoy it at all since how it was advertised "Very Enjoyable Beer"

    • -6

Just taste like all the other ‘craft beer’; over hopped and a bit thick and fruity. Good for 1 can, not sessionable. Avoid.

      • +3

You've obviously not had a lot of craft beer if you think they all taste the same. I understand if people like drinking macro lager over craft because they prefer the taste, but macro beers are all far closer together in flavour than craft beers are.

        • -1

I’ve had a couple I’ve enjoyed, particularly sours and gose. Goat is rank.

      No deer for a month!

      • I love you, Pepsie.

  • $11 in varied locations in WA!

  • How much is it normall

  • +2

    good tin, this one.

    • Beer is nice, the packaging is okay too I guess.

  • +2

$50 for a case of this delivered from First Choice until Sunday with code FREEDEL50

    • +2

This deal is $44/$48 for a case, though. So unless delivery is important this deal is the GOAT.

  • +4

Pretty interesting that a company boasting about being a craft beer pioneer (even though they are no longer independently owned) is implying that not telling people the style or ingredients of the beer is a positive thing.

    • The style is "very enjoyable"

    • +1

I'm sure if you emailed them and asked they might get back to you but it's not surprising that this type of beer suddenly popped up as a mainstay for Mountain Goat after Asahi bought them.

    • The style and ingredients are not hidden.
They are quite open with the info.

Vienna and Plisner malt, Ella and Gallaxy hops, lager yeast and of course water.

      • I'm specifically referring to the description of the beer on the Dan's website, which presumably comes from Mountain Goat themselves. They are using the lack of information as a marketing point which is just unusual to me. Clearly trying to appeal to the crowd who think craft beer is only for (profanity).

But as one of those craft beer (profanity), I appreciate the info. Cheers!

  • +3

Thanks, will be buying a few on my way home from work to get tanked tonight and calling in sick tomorrow

  • Great 6 pack price! Slab is generally under $50 at Dan's too. They make for good summer drinking, they are a larger rather than your typical craft ale but not a typical larger.

    • +5

You've had too many large lagers.

      • +1

well I am in Victorian lock down, nothing else to do…

  • +2

Has also been on Woolworths receipts recently in Vic to use at BWS for $11/6pk or $45/slab (not sure why slab price was more that 4 x 6pk!)

    • Yes, it just expired on 4 Aug.

Btw, I got a receipt for another offer of Mathilda Bay Fat/ Lazy Yak beer. It was $43/24 pack and $14/ 6 pack. Expiry 15 Sep. But now, new WW receipts show the price as $47 for 24 pack. Will BWS honor the previous price?

  • Thx OPgood deal - i think i need to drink-less not more during Lock down in Vic

  • Se

  • +2

Thanks will give this a go.
    All beer should be $11/$12 a 6-pack.

    • +3

Yeah should be, although you can thank the Australian Govt for our Inflated Alcohol Prices

  • bought 3 thx bud

  • +1

If it didn't say very enjoyable on the tin would it still be just as enjoyable?

Much in the same vein that if a tree falls in the forest and no one's there does it still make a noise?

    • +1

Yes, it would be. They could sell this with no label and it would still be Very Enjoyable. Gonna hit Dan's this arvo and see what he's charging in TAS for it.

  • very nice beer

  • Ended up with some free Goat Beer in the BWS promotion. I gave it away, but heard it was good.

Unlike the alcohol free beer, which I can't even give away.

  • +1

This is a great beer for the price.

  • At that price I wouldn't complain but anymore I'd be looking for actual independently owned stuff.

  • Even now, because of this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/442933 I enjoy this enjoyable beer.

  • +2

On my 4th goat beer atm…. Needs more goat

  • +1

    I want one.
    Checks clock
    Bugger…

    VIC life…

  • So 4 of these(24) is $48 and a carton is normally $52.99, not much of a special really, suprised at all the love.
    Also $50/ctn at first choice.
    https://www.firstchoiceliquor.com.au/beer/goat-lager-can-375…

    • I like to grab a few different 6 packs. $12 is a good price.

      • Yeah if just getting a sixer I understand.

  • Great beer+++++

  • -1

    Absolute swill

    • VB or nothin' eh?

  • What other liquor stores will price match DM?

  • Mountain Goat Steam Ale is much better than this imo.

Price seems to have dropped recently. Was $24.95 for a 6 pack last week. Now its only $15.

    • Cheaper beer is less nice than more expensive beer. Excellent.

  • Shows as out of stock for me (VIC)

  • Great beer, for me its like a lager/ipa hybrid. I usually don't like ales but this is nice.

  • -2

    Horrible beer

  • -3

Got my GOAT today, this is a really rough beer. A tease of flavour up front but the back-end just gives off vibes of warm VB. Shame, their Steam Ale is a great drop but I am not enjoying this one.
