A.I.M. Racing welcomes you to the planet Polygon-4, where deadly vehicles of the distant future compete, swishing planet’s dusty atmosphere at a tremendous pace. Years ago humans along with the Arlings used Polygon-4 for a number of military experiments, but later left the test complex. However, the intelligent machines, AIMs, continue to fulfill objectives they are programmed for: further evolution and self-perfection. AIMs of the Reckoners clan built a network of tracks to test multi-purpose combat machines in action.

If you are not afraid of awesome speed, fatal traps and plasma charges, tearing apart your racing glider’s sheeting, A.I.M. Racing is a game of your choice.   those minimum system specs are something else
  OS: Windows 98 - Memory: 384 MB RAM - Processor: Pentium 4 @ 1.5GHz - GPU: Geforce 4200 or Radeon 9500

  apparently it was released in 2007 (which I found surprising, though it would've been about 4-5 years previous)

  I used to play a game called A.I.M something which looks exactly like this one. But it's not a racing game. Was an open world RPG game. You control an A.I vehicle going around discover new locations, collect resources and trade then for currencies, destroy other vehicles and loot them. Once a vehicle is destroyed, it will drops a machine core. You collect those to earn more upgrades to your vehicle or buy new ones. There are several frame types:

  Transport type is good for trader, you have big cargo space but limited and basic weapon upgrades

  Speeder type is good for fast travel and escape combat situations. Basic weapon upgrades and limited cargo space

  Combat type is good for combat obviously. Small cargo space but sweet weapons. Can easily destroy other vehicles

  There are factions in the game, if you attack too many vehicles from one fraction, words will get around and they start to attack you on sight. There are even bounty hunters to track you down. You can also become a bounty hunter and kill bad vehicles for good rewards. If combat isn't your thing, you can also become a trader and work your way up slowly…
