iDIGITAL 720p Dash Cam $10 @ The Reject Shop

130

Saw these at Parramatta store, seems a normal price not a special. Had a dozen in stock, grabbed one for me and one for my mum.

At $10 how bad can it be? Better to have something than nothing I reckon!

Pretty bad, won't even be able to read the plate is my guess

I don't think anyone is expecting it to for $10.

Then what’s the point of having one?

        • +7

In case of an accident it will provide video evidence which could save you thousands and a day or two wasted going to court.

I guess it's good if you only expect it to capture evidence, so you can prove the other party wrong if they're lying. Number plate clarity is nice to have, but at 10 bucks, I'd say manage your expectations.

  • I'd say there is a reason they are only $10.

  • I already have cams facing front and rear. I will grab 2 at this price, and fix it for left and right side

Don't forget the corners as well.

    • Don’t laugh, I’ve seen someone with side cameras on a Hyundai Getz couple of years ago and they’ve even stuck stickers telling passerby he’s fully decked out with cameras.

You could rent yourself out as a mobile surveillance unit..I'm sure the Chinese embassy would take up your service.

    • Don't forget a camera for those Drop Bears 🐻 from above!!

Perhaps it was replaced by the $20 FHD model:

    • led lights … lol

Well at least it'll provide more detail to those people in the forums that use footage to make paint images and animations.

    Insurance co: so what happened?
Me: if you refer to the uploaded dashcam footage (herein referred to as exhibit one (1)) you will identify that this blurry object (the offender) came out of nowhere and damaged insured vehicle
    Insurance co: lol

Cheap insurance for when someone reverses into you when stopped

    • I've had that happen in a shopping centre car park. They damaged their car more than my old bomb (slight mark in trim). Damage was less value than this camera.
Let them off - they were so apologetic.

      • Nice of you to do that BUT they could have said you hit them and claimed for their damage, a camera would have provided proof of the party at fault.

        • Understand that. People are too nice in my area.
Was first incident in many years before that, & that was about 10 years ago.
I've got a good dashcam, but haven't bothered installing it. Rarely drive as am usually overseas.

"grabbed one for me and one for my mum." But I am curious who the candle was for.

So how did these turn out for people.
Usable at all or pure junk?
