It has been sitting on $399 for a while, then dropped to $379 2 weeks ago — and the new price now is $349! Lucky that it is not the size of your share porfolio, but a Dell E207WP 20" Entry Wide Screen LCD monitor. I know you can probably get a 22" at around the same price (or a bit more) if you shop around, but it is still a good price for a 20" at the same resolution.

Some tech specs:

  • Size: 20.1 inch wide screen
  • Brightness: 300 cd/m2
  • Contrast Ration: 800:1
  • Interface: D-Sub + DVI-D with HDCP
  • Resolution: 1680x1050
  • Warranty: 3 years

  • I would like to see the 24" version at around $599

    • Hopefully this time next year. I am waiting for Chi Mei's 24 inch LCD wide screen which would hopefully be much lower than $1000 Dell is charging. Then we will have comments saying "we would like to see a 30 inch at this price!"

  • Hey scotty, i'd personally recommend you against a Chi Mei/CMV. Used to sell them a while back, and alot of them tend to have bright/dark pixels. The original 22" with DVI (D version) was significantly better, but with the introduction of the A (Analog) version..it was a different story all together. Another thing you have to keep in mind is whether your graphics card is able to handle those high native resolution. If you have yourself a 78xx Nvidia card and above, then it should be okay. I'd recommend a Dell 24" :)

    • Thanks moo! I will keep that in mind. For home, I buy mostly notebooks so large LCD actually has quite a limited use for me. Now I just need to think of a way to convince my manager at work to upgrade me to a bigger LCD.

For increased productivity, of course :)

      • It will definately 'increase' productivity! I've just upgraded at work from a 17" LCD to a 20.1" Wide Screen Dell. It is bliss for a work LCD! Works great if you have alot of screens open, eg. code on left and preview on right. So yea…it is quite lovely :D
