Bingo. (1) not a freebie, (2) MASSIVELY overstated value for the 'freebie', (3) not saving 44%, it's just 44% off the value if you bought at a newsagent each month. Mentioned by OP in the body but completely misleading in the title.
Only reason I'm not negging for those three is the absence of "first post wahh wahh" crap which is a + in itself. The two negate each other.

On a side note, the missus got the free 6 month subscription of Gourmet Traveller, from buying 2 x ice cream promo. She says she's glad it was free, coz the thing has more ads in it than recipes.. Guess most magazines are like that these days.

Not really saving 44%, only saving $15 off a normal subscription. Magazine subs are not a bargain, they have been around for ever. Title should say $15 off Subscription + Free gift….
