Denon AVR-S650H 5.2 Channel Networked AV Receiver $799 @ Digital Cinema

50

Not quite as good as the recent deal for the AVR-S750H for $729, but considerably cheaper for this model when compared to any other retailers I can find right now.

From Denon’s website:

5.2 channel AV receiver with 135W per channel, 4K Ultra HD HDMI (5 inputs / 1 output), Dolby True HD, DTS-HD Master Audio, Dolby Vision™, Bluetooth® and HEOS wireless multi-room music streaming, and voice control compatibility.

  • why 5.2 so expensive?

    • +2

5.2 is a discrete feature that does not dictate the overall quality of product.

Covid tax. Most AVRs have gone up in price due to supply shortage.

      • Wouldn't have thought this would be a lockdown shortage item but makes sense I guess. Been trying to find a basic one with 2xRCA input for a while…

    • It has a heap of extra features that other 5.2 receivers I looked at didn’t have.
Things like AirPlay 2 and eARC seem to be gone when you go any cheaper than this.

      • You can get eARC on a Yamaha RX-V385. But I’m sure there are other features that make this Denon better than a lot of entry model Yamahas.

  • For that sort of money, wouldn't you start considering Atmos support for 'not much' more?

    Sony - $997
    Pioneer - $1099

I know Denon are considered more premium than the above brands

Depends on your priorities I guess.
Personally the built in AirPlay 2 and Spotify is more important to me than another set of speakers in the mix, but I can totally understand priorities going more for Atmos.

  • Amazon AU actually had the Denon S750 up for about $820 til a few days ago with atmos, was considering but now its OOS. I didn't need the atmos though personally.

    • It’s strange, I can hardly find any mention of the 750 on any Australian stores anymore, save for that OOS Amazon listing.
