FREE Call of Duty MW3 on PC if You Buy HyperX T1 8GB RAM @ Base.com Posted for £46 = $70

340

Great deal if you are already thinking of getting more RAM.

Also fantastic as the cheapest place to preorder this for PC is normal $60 plus, ram sells at $65 plus in Australia

So thats $10 for 8GB of RAM, or vice verse.

it works out cheaper for Australians, because base.com take the 20% VAT off, so for me it is £45.95 posted, around $70 today.

  • weird- it says 8gb DDR3 RAM but underneath for the specs its 2x 2gb. So which 1 is right? And also hopefully its categorised as laptop ram and I don't think Kingston Hyper X range is for laptop RAM. Anyway its a bargain and I just bought myself 1 as I'm building a computer in 2 weeks

Just a couple of minor notes to consider:

    1) These RAM modules are rated at 1.65 volt and therefore 'may' not have quite as good compatibility as standard 1.5 volt modules. Quite a few of the cheaper 8GB RAM kits do however use the same voltage rating.

    2) The heat sinks are likely to cause compatibility with a lot after-market CPU heat sink fans and may even cause clearance issues with 5.25" or 3.5" bay devices in smaller cases. Removing them is probably not recommended due to the higher heat output from higher voltages and warranty issues.

    3) The game is the retail pack which means no steam as far as I am aware? This I find quite a disadvantage as although steam can be annoying at times, it does keep things easily up to date and makes new installations a breeze. Not too sure on the current situation though.

However, this is insanely cheap for such a bundle so unless the above may be an issue; Go for it!

Essentially the game is just like modern warfare 2 for launching- the discs are used to install the game and steam only registers the CD key so steam is actually required for installing and launching modern warfare 3.

      • Thanks.

    • I agree with you that Steam keeps games up to date. The last month or so, I seem to get a patch for Left for Dead 2 every couple of days. A LARGE patch. Bit annoying, especially since I haven't started playing the game yet (haven't started the first one yet either - too many games, too little time).

  • bugger (Sorry, this product is currently unavailable.)

god dammit, I needed the ram as well :(
    i always miss out

  • Damn, that looked like a good deal :(

  • It's actually still available, they just changed it to 4gb and the game for 50 quid.

Note that they only send the game when it launches, so you'd be waiting for a while before you can play. i think i'll skip this offer, don't want to wait till december to play the game.

    • with the replaced deal, the ram is also of a much slower speed. 1600MHz v 1066MHz.

      • +2

It's DDR2 Ram, 1066Mhz is very high spec for DDR2, I paid $200 for 2GB DDR2 1066 4 years ago. So this is a good price as well, however more people using DDR3 now, but if somebody want to upgrade their DDR2 Ram, this is the deal.

        • cools! :) might get one.. thankss
