Networking Question- will ax extend my wifi reception?

Hi so i have my current ac modem router that came with the tpg plan. The nbn board is on the ground floor so the modem has to be there.

In the townhouse I’m living at, 1st floor the room which is just behind the kitchen/stove and seems like something is in the wall that reduces wifi reception. Some days I get good reception but other days I have to go to the kitchen

The the second floor room which is furthest away at the back has the least reception. I have put a wifi extender on 2nd floor to improve reception

Will the ax routers improve my reception especially in the 2nd floor and can it ‘penetrate’ the kitchen wall on 1st floor?Thank you

If running ethernet is out of the question the next best is a mesh system except Nest wifi as it's not suitable with TPG. It doesn't have to be AX.

Cheers. I was considering this idea as well. Thx

      • Routers: Netgear Orbi, Deco M5, or Amplifi HD by Ubiquiti Labs.

Awesome! I shall have a look at these. Thx again

  • Does your current router have an external antenna? I've found my new router gives much better 5Ghz performance and, in particular, at the far end of my house with only 2 bars wifi I can still get 50Mbps on my phone (on a 50Mbps NBN plan).

    • Yes it’s has three external antennas but still weak reception at furthest point. Thx
