  • I've been thinking about getting the dt770. Have wanted then for ages but for some reason I always purchase different headphones. Now I'm tempted to get dt990 but then I still wouldn't have the dt770 lol

  • The pads on these are comfortable but wear out quickly, and expensive to replace. They really should include a second pair of pads in box.

  • Would anyone recommend this as an upgrade over my current HE400's? Finding them really harsh/sharp in the highs (no sparkle, just harsh). I typically like brighter over ears - also have a set of HD58X's and am not a huge fan of the sound signature.

  • +1

I have these - they're sitting in parts in a box despite having a very easy life and being in storage for much of their existence.

The right speaker completely stopped - I've never seen a pair of cans or buds do this ever.

Beyerdynamics deliberately use fracturing plastics in load bearing structure in the headphones as well, they rudely sell replacement parts for £25 for two small pieces of plastic and four screws taken from production line stocks and flogged retail to victims.

I have these and the DT770's - sound quality I really like and they're ever so comfortable but they have SERIOUS quality and reliability problems (the 770's have been going well but they too have the plastics fracturing problem and are limping along).

Beware - you see these problems all over forums, while the sound is good I'd argue they're below par for build quality for what they are; this seems to be deliberate obsolescence design too.

  • I have both the DT880 250ohm and 600ohm versions, the 600ohm are game changers driven correctly - this review is very accurate https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=YtyCRXizSeM

    • Just bought the 600ohm version. Thanks Zeos…

Currently running a Magni 2 Uber, I might need an upgrade.

    • DT880 600 OHM sounds a little bit relaxing, smooth and "warm" than 990 250ohm on es9038pro…But i still prefer DT990 and 1990 lol

  • What are OZB audophiles' opinions of Master & Dynamic's headphones? I'm aware I'm probably paying a premium for their top-notch design efforts (in a similar vein to Bang & Olufsen), but are they also exemplary in terms of their sound quality and durability?

  • I got The DT990 Pro 250ohm versions From Manny's for $200 a while back, find them pretty good, there is a little harshness around the 10k kHz apparently, not a big issue bit a little noticeable. Still probably the best for the price. A mate has ordered us two pairs of DT1990 Pros which should be awesome, won't need both given the sound signature is similar.
