Just got it yesterday, pretty good so far

  • +3

Ive had mine a few months now and absolutely love it

  • This or $69 version from Kmart?

    • +3

This, from pervious people comments the build quality this one is better.

      I have one.

      • +8

I'm not convinced. Can it replace mother?

    • This one

  • warranty?

    • I’m picking mine up this evening, I’ll see if there is something in the manual.

    • Woolies is generally really good with this id say if you take it back within 2 years it should not be a problem

    • I talked to the lady at the desk and she said 1 year, but I really don’t think she had a clue. I would work with that. There is nothing in the instructions.

  • -7

    200 degree max seems weak

    • +1

already hot enough to burn your hands. how hot do you want it?

      • So is 60 degree water…?

    • My fan forced max is 250 what do you expected for airfryer?

    • What won’t you be able to cook in it, just wondering?

      • +1

        Coffee

    • +2

200 degrees is all you need with an airfrier, do you have one?

    • -1

The 1500 watt is weak a lot of others are 1800watt and work well fyi.

      • +3

So, exactly, what does the extra wattage give you practically? I am, genuinely, interested so people can make an informed decision.

        • Presumably it gives you 20% more heat if it's using resistance to create heat. Maybe a tad less for the fan.

          • @Diji1: But what does that mean from a, practical, cooking perspective? I’m trying to get a bang for buck comparison.

            • +4

@try2bhelpful: from a practical perspective, you might need to destroy some particularly incriminating evidence or prevent a vampire from respawning.

            • @try2bhelpful: It's pretty self explanatory, isn't it? I assume you understand the difference between temperature settings on your actual oven? Exact same principle.

              • @callum9999: So is there stuff that I’m likely to want to cook that will not be possible with this fryer? I realise anything higher than 200C but what is that likely to encompass with these devices? It also might get to heat quicker but is that really an issue? There is a difference between technology and practical application.

                • @try2bhelpful: It just seems like something you can figure out for yourself. You know what you cook, you know what temperatures you normally cook at. If you don't cook above 200 then obviously it's fine…

I don't know if it's an issue as I don't have the slightest idea what your patience and tolerance levels are! Maybe waiting an extra few minutes means nothing to you, maybe it's annoying. How would I know?

                  • +1

@callum9999: I think this is my point. Some people are calling it “weak” but they aren’t indicating why this might be an issue. I haven’t used one of these before so I’m calling on the ones who have to see if the lower power is considered an issue by people who do use them. Sorry if I want to understand the practical implications with this sort of technology rather than just accept a vague notion.

        • It destroys the Coronavirus, high eat just melts it.

          • @nobro25: Ahh, so shaking the chips is like the mechanical action of washing your hands.

        • Faster cooking, avoiding unwanted low-temperature reactions.

          • @sareth: What low temperature reactions? I’m willing to wait a tad longer if I’m spending a fraction of the price.

    • +1

I've been able to brown & burn anything with mine.

    • +1

      Buy it, be a man.

      • +1

        Do the right thing

      • Are you emasculated by cooking technology?

  • +3

These are a great introductory air fryer

    • +2

That was my plan. I wanted to try one out without spending a lot of money and people seem to like this one.

  • +1

Will this fit a sausage roll?

    • +6

      If you have enough pastry.

    • +1

No… but you can fit a sausage roll in the air fryer

  • +1

Every time this comes up I keep asking myself if I'd rather buy this as a spare now, or the original idea of changing to a horizontal rack/mini-oven style one instead thinking it might be better than the egg basket style (if/when the current cheapie Kogan egg one dies).

The Kogan one starts to struggle as soon as things start getting stacked. It doesn't have the air holes on the side of the basket though. Not sure how much difference that makes. But a tray style one would have no issues with that either way.

  • +8

any one buying this have a look on following review first
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V4IVWcLP92c

have been using it for a month, cant complain for price and value. slightly noisy compared to expensive brands, but much lower price.

    • Thnks m8, this sold it for, ordering now!

  • bought this…
    love it.

now we're waiting for it to break down to get a bigger one haha…

  • noooooooooooooooooo why did i not get this instead of kmart

  • Between this and Aldi one? which one better?

    • +1

The main difference between this one and every other air fryer that I've seen is that it's not digital. No fancy digital display & controls that can break down. Seems like a simple design.

  • +1

Looking for bigger one, this one ok size but not big enough.

  • I'm thinking maybe this is what is missing in my life. But what would I do with it? Serious Qn, what do people cook in it aside from the chips shown on the box?
I'm thinking maybe some chicken nuggets, spring rolls, my daughter uses our 900mm oven to heat a single mini apple pie - maybe this would be more efficient for that?

    • my daughter uses our 900mm oven to heat a single mini apple pie - maybe this would be more efficient for that?

      Absolutely!

    • +1

frozen vegetables, meat pie, salmon, chicken, beef, croissant, dim sims, spring rolls, etc etc

    • +4

Aside from the obvious nuggets/chips/fish fingers… I've been using them to air fry crispy chicken wings, tofu, pork crackling, pork belly, roasted pine nuts and frozen dumplings, all have worked really well. The next thing I will try is tempura.

It's great because I can just turn it on and then do other food prep/cooking. It works well for me in an apartment because sometimes frying/roasting things sets off the smoke alarm, and with this I use an extension cord out on the balcony.

    • I cook everything in it. Chavaps, chicken breast, kebabs, chips, pies, etc. I have a cheap Kogan one and I use it for everything. I hate cooking so anything that can be cooked without me being near it is the best!

      • May I head you towards an Instantpot. Stews, corn beef, soups, yoghurt, etc. between these two devices you will have a lot of meals covered.

  • Great price, but Is this Made In Australia?

    • +6

      Nope…Maid in Manhattan

      • Maid Marion.

        • -1

I was hoping that it would be maid to order… but then, I supsect that it wouldn't be this cheap! ;)

  • +4

Hot Air Technology - what our pollies run on…

  • Will it cook a frozen chiko roll?

    • +3

      Yes. Very well

      • +7

Straight out of the freezer, 2-3 mins in the microwave and then 5-7 mins(at 180 degrees) in the air fryer and prepare for absolute perfection…just like what you'd get at the footy, but from the comfort of your lockdown loungeroom.

Same thing for pies and sanga rolls.

  • +1

Always wondered if I need one….anyway, ordered one! TGIF peeps…

    • +2

      Lucky fryer

    • So what do you think?

      • I think of a lot of things 😆
About this product, no I haven't collected yet….today hopefully!

  • Can I cook a 6kg Roast Chicken in this?. Looking to replace my $6,499 Miele oven.

    • +1

probably have as much luck cooking a 6kg chicken in this as you would in your oven

  • Is there any warranty on this item? Has anyone confirmed with Woolworth

    • +2

It’s $44, how much warranty do you want? I’ll be happy if it doesn’t burn the house down. I’ll ask, though, but I doubt the instore people have a clue.

    • Warranty would be provided through Mistral, not Woolworths necessarily.

    • +1

of course, just refer to the ACL?

  • +1

Buy it, be a man. No brainer.
And cooked a few times below, amazing.

Squid made in China, surely they have something closer available?

      • +2

This fryer is made in China too, what a coincidence.

  • I bought a healthy choice brand 1400 watts about 2 years ago. I'm not sure it's working properly when I put in about 400 grams of frozen chips I cook on 200 for 10 minutes then shake them and cook another 10 minutes. Does that sound right.

  • -1

9% off? Jesus Christ, any other deal would have been crucified.

    • +6

It is normally cheap and now it is cheaper. There was a fair bit of interest in these when they were full price. The extra discount did tip me into purchase mode. Maybe the “crucified” bit is what puts people off posting deals. If I’ve helped someone then I’m happy; I don’t have to please everyone.

  • bought this from the previous deal, its been great so far!

  • +1

Should i get this or the 10Litre one from Aldi? This one seems a bit small

  • +1

Woolworths Credit Card holders can get another 10% off if your using the "once a month 10% off your shop" option.

    • Thanks for the info.

    • +1

And 5% off if using egift cards

      • How do you get the 5% off?

        • Go to cashrewards and purchase say a $100 egift card for $95 then use it to buy anything at Woolworths supermarket and Woolworths petrol station among other places. The egift number and password gets emailed to you usually withing 30 minutes.

          • @paulaus: So the 5% you get is from cash rewards later and you’d still have to pay $100 upfront right?

            • @macr0hard: No, you get charged $95 on your credit card.

    • Was gonna sign up for this card but they paused new applications :(

  • I've got this one. Love it.

  • Used it this evening, with oven fried frozen chips, and the chips came out really crispy. I think I will put a bit of salt on them next time. They aren’t in the same league as deep fried chips but certainly very reasonable and a lot less messy. Will be interesting to try fried chicken and fish.

    • Been using the Kmart one for 5 years or so, and to start off with I was adding a couple of table spoons of oil to the frozen chip basket to make them less dry and a little more like deep fried chips. But once we got used to it with no oil, we stopped using it.
