Best Place to Buy The Google Pixel 4a from?

Given all the shops are shut in Victoria, any thoughts on the best place to order the Google Pixel 4a? Google Store, JBHifi, Harvey Norman, NigerianPrince@Gumtree, etc?

Prices are all $599, but wondering if there's any retailers out there offering anything extra. I'm leaning to just getting it from the Google Store at this stage, given I've had a good experience with their warranty process in the past and they do free delivery.

I have bought many a pixel phone from Google.

    Excellent customer and warranty service.

I have all my android phones from Google directly. They have replaced two handsets that were out of warranty with brand new upgraded models. Not sure that would happen with Apple!

In terms of extras, the Pixel 4a does come with a set of 3.5mm earbuds (Australia & France only)

I ordered one from JB Hi-Fi last week. Shipping was $4.99 to WA. I'm able to get 5% off JB gift cards through an employee rewards program so JB's was a logical choice for me - saved $30.

    • Thanks, good tip. I know its up for pre-order at the moment. Did they advise an ETA ?

      • "Arrives within 3 - 7 business days from release day with tracking"

JB's first order is now sold out. According to their web site, their second shipment will be delivered from 17/9. The question I wondering is whether to buy now, or wait and hope for some deals once its available.

          • @CacheHunter: JB's second order also sold out. "Any Pre Orders placed from Thursday 27th August, will be delivered from 15th October 2020. "

Thanks for the tip… I also have an employee program that will save me 5% on JB gift cards. Just need to determine if its worth saving $30 to buy from JB instead of Google direct.

            • @AlexG: As of this morning it's actually out of stock on the Google store, not even available for preorder.

              • @hamza23: Strange, it is in my cart with Delivery: 21–22 Oct. Maybe it will reject if i confirm purchase.

                • @AlexG: It's back now (same date 21-22 Oct).

  • Wondering if there will be a $500 JB voucher on a $65 Telstra Sim. My wife had this for the 3A and switched it immediately to a $49 plan.

  • Merged from Best Way to Buy Google Pixel 4a

I'm looking to buy a Pixel 4a, as i cracked my S8. Old phone is usable, but I'm keen to get a 4a ASAP. Is it best to pre-order from Google themselves, or go to someone like JB HiFi? Considerations include: getting it quickest, easier company to deal with for problems, price (this is OzB after all). I would consider waiting an extra month if it would potentially come say $50 cheaper. What does everyone think?

    • TLDR: Used google for warranty with 2 pixels and they were great.

Ive purchased my two Pixels via JB Hi-Fi, both have had issues which has been super annoying. For my pixel 3 i did my warranty through google and they replaced it right away. Unfortunately the next 3 pixel 3s i received had the same issue but replacing them was as easy as emailing google, filling out a return slip and returning it, then they would express post out a brand new one. Lucky i kept my old xiaomi to use in the meantime.

Now ive got the 4XL which had an issue where my battery was always stuck on 50%. I started the return process with Google and found they have a new process which i opted in to do, they hold an authorization fee on your credit/ debit card, send you out a new phone and give you 14 days to transfer over all your apps, files etc before they actually charge you. The process was super easy.

Both times the customer service team were easy to deal with, replied quickly and only asked to factory reset them and send a bug report before they initiated the return.

      • Im surprised you still went with Google after all the issues. I got my sister into a pixel phone (pixel 2). she faced some battery issues and hated me after lol.

        • Yeah me too hahaha. was hoping there would be no issues with the 4xl but yeah.. I really like the look of the 4A and 5 though, hopefully the quality control is a bit better

    • pre-order from Google themselves

Phone's already released. Apparently JB Hi-Fi already sold out of their first two shipments and the next shipment won't be delivered to customers until from I think mid-October onwards.

      • I had it in my basket at the Google store a few days ago, with delivery around 9 Oct. That is now gone, and the expected delivery date is Delivery: 21–22 Oct now, so seems the same as JB.

        • I pre-ordered mine 2wks ago from JB and delivery date is 15 Oct

          • @WhatWhoWhyUsername: I pulled the trigger on an S10 from JB over the weekend. Maybe I'll be looking at the Pixel 6 in a couple of years ;)

I pre-ordered from officeworks around 20/8, after JB was saying late Sept and Google store was saying mid October. It arrived yesterday. OW seems to be less popular so is with monitoring if you want a 4a sooner. I've cancelled my jb and Google orders.

  • Newsflash! Now the S10 is the same price (ok slightly cheaper) via https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/565060
