How Many Kms on a Mazda 3? (When They Have Major Issues)

Just curious, for those with the older Mazda 3s (2004-2008, 2009-2013 etc), how many kms did it last before it died/had significant and costly issues? Assuming that it was serviced at required intervals, taken care of etc. Are there any expensive and major issues that occur with high mileage? Obviously, its a vague open-ended question but just curious.

  • i had a 2011 sp25 manual as a daily, had 178k km on it and was getting a bit tired, but that was because i floored it everywhere. only real issue with 2009-2013 that i had were headlights yellowing too quickly, the plastic guard shit breaking and it being too slow. most modern cars are going to be between very reliable and somewhat reliable, its all dependant on how the orignial owner treated it in between 0km to 1st and 2nd services.

  • Got myself a dealer demo 2019 G25 Evolve hatchback with the vision pack couple of weeks ago. Its clocked 9000K with the dealer before i got hold of it. Looks beautiful and drives great. After reading these comments I feel reassured that I've made a good choice.

  • Saw a 2010 Mazda 3 Maxx Sport with 103,000kms on it with service history from Mazda. Guy was asking for $9k. Good Price? I'm strongly considering it but wanted to know the community's take on this deal.

    • It's a 11 year old car. No doubt a well maintaned car if it has a service history. $9k is on the higher side of the price range. Have a look at the car, test drive, assess the appearance and look for any potential issues that may be evident. Did the owner buy it new?
If you are impressed after all this, then $9K would be a respectable price given there's a lot more Km's left to go. I'm sure the owner has also factored in a negotiation buffer into the price so more power to you to negotiate the price down. $8K would be a steal if all else is okay. I would also advise you to check what insurance coverage you will get for the car if you were to buy it. I know of many stories where used car buyers paid a lot more than the market value and insurance companies refusing to cover the inflated prices paid by the buyer.

I'm sure the owner has also factored in a negotiation buffer into the price so more power to you to negotiate the price down - Nope the guy was a rude gentlemen who did not even budge for 50$. Turns out 9k was with not Rego and RWC, car had scuffs, lot of scratches and a small dent near the rear tyre arch. As soon as I started to negotiate he started yelling and calling me names. Not worth the effort of dealing with people like this.

  • I have a 2012 mazda 6 touring, its done 350,000km my hubby changes the oil and filter every 100,000km only use full synthetic oil and never had an issue. Im still driving this car daily with no issues. Ive owned it since new.
