Great price drop for these amazing set of cans. Highly recommend getting an amp to get the most out of these.

  • Wouldn’t it be cheaper to get from Amazon UK? $180.02 with prime delivered.

Edit: nevermind, title changed when posted this reply.

    • Updated, thanks!

  • Thought I would be satisfied with the WH-1000XM4 for my PC usage, but upon learning about the limitations of bluetooth codecs and Windows I'm considering getting some wired headphones.

Would these be a good entry set? Would probably pick up a Topping MX3 to drive them.

    • These are fantastic headphones. They are meant for home use, and being open back they leak sound.

    • They are great headphones, you will need an amp powerful enough to drive the 250ohms though. i thought my Xonar DGX sound card would be enough to power the cans, but it wasnt pumping enough volume. Went with a Fiio E10K in the end and its been working brilliantly.

    • Awesome headphones, I use it for gaming and movies/music. I didn't require an amplifier as my motherboard supported up to 600 Ohm headsets and theses were really loud and clear.

  • Great price. Just bought some 880s a month bank and noticed they are cheap too at like $292!

  • Have any amp recommendations?

    • +2

Wasnt getting enough power to drive 250ohms with my Asus Xonar DGX. After some research i picked up the popular Fiio E10K, great little dac amp combo. The headphones are great too.

  • My Luxman DA200 drives this beautifully

  • Yes this is a good price. I own two pairs (both retired to cupboard as spares)… my thoughts are:

    Pros:

    • Nice bass and mids - warm, enjoyable for some music, and all movies and video games.
    • Comfortable, soft ear pads
    • Good value.

    Cons:

    • Treble is not great, it is definitely not faithful to original recording. While electronic music sounds good on the low end, the higher frequencies are a mess. You may not notice unless you have better headphones to compare, or have an ear for these things.
    • The soft ear pads wear out quickly, and are not cheap to replace.
    • There's cheaper alternative pads on ebay, but avoid those as they muddy the sound. You need to get the original velour pads.
    • One of my pairs has a faint rattle for audio with lots of bass and volume. I've heard other people report same. My other pair is fine, so it could be a luck of draw thing.

I've been using my pair at least 3 days a week for ~4 hours a day, for 3 years, and while the ear pads aren't like new condition, they're still fine IMO.

      • Okay, but 3 days per week is not frequent use.

If you search the web for feedback about the pads, plenty of people saying they go flat after a year of frequent use.

When they go flat you start to feel the frame underneath. The top headband also goes flat, causing pressure up top. Some people simply pay the $50 to get new pads, as I've done several times over the years. Others will look for headphones with pads that last longer.

I have no doubt Beyerdynamic have made a TON of cash from the replacement pads.

        • Agreed, regarding usage. I would say "frequent" would be at least a few hours every day.

  • Are there international currency transaction fees involved?

  • Kinda wish I got these to compare vs the AKG K702s.

  • it looks like this is still on, and the price has actually gone down to $176.40

  • Should I purchase from the local authorised reseller ($239) or Amazon UK ($201)? My consideration is the after sale service and warranty issues? Anyone can share your experience? Many thanks, Roy.
