P/s: if you have the 2019 game then this version won't be a real significant upgrade but if you have not owned any recent FM games then the 2020 version is truly worth it.
Agreed. I've got 01/02 and 03/04, as well as 2020 through game pass. I know which ones I enjoy more.
I'd agree with you that the game has become too complicated for its own good in recent years (without adding much fun for the new mechanics), however feel like FM2012 was a good balance of game mechanics and fun - of course still took a fair chunk of time - FM2020 feels like a season is 5X as long as compared to FM2012
Bought this yesterday then asked for a refund after i realised it was avaliable on xbox game pass ($1 trial for the first month then $5 a month after that),
I haven't bought a FM game since 2014. For those who are familiar with the series, what major differences/upgrades would I find in the 2020 version?
a lot more tactic choices. I am still using 2D in game because 3D makes me dizzy. major difference compared to 2014 is…. a lot more time handling the press conference. And players will tend to me more annoying if they don't get enough playing time.
I stopped buying them year after year since 2015. I now buy every odd year. Like the original post, nothing different from FM19. I've done over 1900 hours on FM19.
Easily done over 30k hours since CM01/02 haha…..

Good price, but IMHO the series has gone backwards in terms of enjoyment over the past decade or so with all the added extra team talk rubbish etc…. I'd take the original Championship Manager, and later 01/02 season where you could knock out a season in a couple of hours over the recent rubbish.
