    When Switch 2 OLED

    • +11

      4-5 years from now

    • +2

There is a steam deck OLED

    • +1

ye waiting for the same, bought a ayn thor for now.

      • +1

Does that play switch 2 games?

        • nah, different use case. Dual screen handheld aimed at DS/3DS. It'll be able to emulate some switch 1 games though.

          • -2

@GUYANDSON: Could have just bought this switch and played it until the OLED version comes out, then sold it for still a great resale amount.

            • @onlinepred: eh nah, other half of the equation is the games. Nothing on this yet that makes me really want to jump in over my switch 1. I'll reassess when gen 10 pokemon lands but I'll still prob hold out.

              • @GUYANDSON: So even if it had OLED, you wouldn't buy, so nothing to do with OLED or not

                • @onlinepred: nah, having OLED now would likely mean I'd purchase this and I'd be more happy to let it sit between the games.

                  It doesn't so I'll wait.

      • Where did you buy the Thor from?

  • +8

    black friday soon

    • +7

I cant see it being much cheaper to be honest, likely similar price or higher

      • +6

we'll see very soon. at any rate I am not pressed to get one. once they release an OLED version maybe.. I still have tons of unfinished games on my Switch (1) OLED

        • I've read that there are many switch 1 games that don't play well (still/yet) on the Switch 2. Fact or fiction?

Not a big gamer, will mainly be games like Mario Kart, Let's Sing etc. Better to go with Switch 1 or Switch 2?

          • +1

@krouton24: May as well get a Switch 2. You'll get more out of it. Better yet, put in a bit of effort and buy a hand held PC like the Deck or Ally.

  • +5

Still waiting for $499 for the non bundle switch 2 deal. Hopefully Black Friday

    • +1

very unlikely but would be pleasant surprise

    • Not this year. I imagine we'll get that price next year though.

  • +3

Xmas present for the kids sorted! Thanks Op :))

  • Shows as 664 for MK bundle with code. Where are you getting 604?

    • +1

      Nintendo Switch 2 $604.91
Mario Kart World/ Pokémon Legends: Z-A Bundle $664.41

      Might help in this format.

      • +1

        Ah! Thank you :)
        Misread as MK bundle 604

  • +2

Do I need a Switch? No. Did I buy a Switch? Yes

    • no (got switch oled) and no. money not wasted is money saved! ultimate ozbargain lol

  • +4

Switch 2 (The consoles of re-releases).

    • +5

      Switch 1.5

    • +1

Yup, getting a Steam Deck instead is still a no brainer given it can emulate the entire switch library

      • And that supports the developers of those games how?

      • +1

I have a Steam deck and yes whilst it plays Switch games its not as straight forward as picking up the Switch, turning it on and playing a game. As much as I hate giving Nintendo money for the same 5 or so games they remake every time they release a console and toss us a few odd remakes and very few new titles it is still a better experience on first party hardware

    • +4

I'm gonna wait until the OLED version comes out. I assume it'll have a decent library by then

  • Mario Kart Bundle out of stock.

    • +1

      Back in stock :)

      • +1

Thanks but found this too late and out of stock again haha. Appreciate the effort taking to update though.

        • +1

They keep restocking, so check back shortly haha

  • Is anyone getting the error "This code can't be applied to your order." when you try to use the code?

  • damn thats hella cheappp

  • Amazing deal!

Has anyone tried a price beat at OW and using 10% off gift cards to suit?

    • No way it would work against eBay with coupon codes…

  • +1

Mario Kart Bundle also available via Kogan for $2.26 less ($662.15 total). https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/177205786416

  • +1

Sorry I'm stupid. I can get discounted ebay card on top of the discount?

    • Yes, I did it via Macquarie Bank app. That's where I purchased my gift card at a 3% discount.

  • Confused between PS and Nintendo for my 12/6 yr old kids? Which will they enjoy more?

    • Nintendo

    • Switch

    • Probably Switch for Nintendo exclusive games and handheld mode.

      Either choice is fine though.

    • +1

      Why not both?

    • +1

Depends on their interests and what mates are playing, in the end most kids will end up playing with friends so its handy to get the same console if possible or find out what games they are interested in and make sure they are are cross platform e.g. Fortnite where as I don't believe this is possible with other popular titles like Marvel Champions that aren't cross platform

  • Any benefit to buying from EB games over the slightly cheaper Dick Smith or Kogan ebay stores?

    • Warranty/returns and any problems might be easier with EB to deal with

      • Any idea if the EB games ebay store is affiliated with the physical stores? I've had drama before with other retailers not honouring warranties in store and having to post back to the online part of the company

  • +1

    Goddamn that's cheap.

I thought my 630 at launch was aces. The 500 I paid for my second one on marketplace almost feels silly when it's only 100 more brand new lol, ripper deal

  • +1

Just bit the bullet and purchased the console using eBay gift cards via Macquarie Bank app. Total was $586.76

    • How long did it take for the cards to arrive ? Also can we use part gift card. Then the rest with normal PayPal?

      • +2

        Instant

        • Thanks. Yeah. It came straight away

  • My 10 year old son is really wanting a Switch for Christmas. Apparently, several of his mates at school have one and love them. Question is….does Santa "invest" in a Switch 2, or save a some $$$ and go for the original Switch or the Switch OLED? Any advice would be much appreciated!

    • +2

      2 for sure.

      • Thanks. I suspected as much.

    • I'd go for a Switch 2 as it is more future-proof for new games - the original Switch 1 was released in 2017.

      • Thanks, I suspected as much.

  • +1

Wheres best for eBay gift cards?

  • Does this count towards carrots for Eb Games accounts?

What do people sell their Switch 1 OLED models for? Trade in value is terrible at Eb Games.

    • Consider gifting to a friend or someone in need

    • +1

Got it with Macquarie Bank gift card so came to $586.85

      Thanks OP!

My brother wanted a Switch 2 to replace his Switch OLED I got him and I kept telling wait for price to drop so Christmas gift sorted.

  • +2

Switch 1 is just under 300g and switch 2 is approximately 240g heavier.

I still own my switch OLED after getting switch 2 and still use switch1 for extended handheld gaming and switch 2 tends to be shorter sessions if in handheld mode and I struggle to play more than an hour.

Something to consider if you are a predominantly handheld user

  • is there a way to purchase gift cards even at full price? everyday rewards had only 500. plus I dont have zip pay.

    • Shopback tech swap (2.5%)

    • +1

You can apply more than one card.

  • is this an ATL?

  • +1

I can't seem to find where to use the eBay gift card to pay. Can anyone help me?

    • +1

You put it where you enter the ZIP discount code

  • Says 1 left

  • To avoid using ZIP, Do i need to buy the total with gift cards. Or can i do like $600 gift cards and the remainder with normal PayPal?

    • +1

I think all the amount has to come from gift cards, but you can apply more than one gift card.

      • Thanks
        I thiugut so.

    • +1

I signed up to Zip, bought it and paid Zip back straight away (and will cancel Zip once transaction clears). So for others, it is (hopefully) not too hard to use Zip once off just for this. Thanks OP!

      • Won't they do a credit check when you sign up for Zip?

  • Dick smith still has stock, I just bought.

  • +3

Back in stock for those interested

    • Hi I bought it from another seller since it was OOS thought it wont come back so soon… any idea i thought ill cancel the order and order from ebgames instead of some random seller.. now ebay says tge seller has to manually cancel the order first.. feels like i am stuck.. the price was roughly the same but this seller is someone in NsW named as pocketsh60

      • +1

You need to message the seller asap and say it was a mistake to cancel the order before they go post it tomorrow.

        • I did!

Sorry for dumb question but does it matter if it a different seller? Warranty should be same ?

          • @Skinnydog: If it’s Kogan/Dick Smith eBay, they’re selling local Aus stock per their website. Warranty should be the same

    • Thanks. Just bought it with macq eBay gift card.

  • if I cancel the Z-A to get the regular switch now that its back in stock can I use the promo code again?

    • No

Multiple items may be purchased in 1 transaction per person, including cancelled transactions as set out in the Cancellations clause below (up to a maximum of 10 items per transaction).

  • +1

Bought just now - Mario Bundle with 3% off Gift Cards, totalled $644.48. Family Christmas gift sorted.

  • +1

Thanks my fellow ozbargainers! Like @tackyhummus I got for $644.48 - I used the Macquarie Bank marketplace gift cards!

  • +1

Thanks. I used Union Shopper for 3% discount on $500 gift card and Everyday Rewards for $10 off the $164.41 gift card.
So $634.31 for the Mario Kart Bundle. My son wanted this for xmas.

  • +1

Many thanks OP! My son is going to be super happy!

    Ordered Mario Cart bundle.

Can someone confirmed if I followed the process right -

Step 1: Got $700 eBay gift card via Macquarie.

Step 2: On eBay, added the Mario cart bundle to checkout, selected Zip pay —> it automatically applied the $115 discount —> this discount code appeared in the voucher/gift card section.

Step 3: Then added another voucher…the eBay gift card, and clicked confirm. Order confirmed. Shows total cost as $664.41

eBay voucher discount should bring the overall cost down further by $20 odd dollars.

Is there a way to check the eBay gift voucher balance?

    • +2

      Not sure to check balance.

You should have used the custom option for the gift card. I got $605 so there would not be anything left.
