  • Same price at Kmart too if you have one nearby.

  • shows as $110.00 must be sold out

  • Bought it, own it, built it. One of the worst Lego kits I have ever purchased. I am a massive Ducati fan and a big Lego fan, but this build is just ugly and uninteresting. If there is anything that doesn't translate well into being made out of Lego, its motorcycles, and this is no exception.

In my opinion, wait until it's around the $40 to $50 range before considering it. I dont think this is going to be any future classic like the GT3…

    • +1

this does not bode well for my ducati delivery coming today haha.

    • Hmm thanks… this makes me feel less bad somewhat having missed out on both kmart and amazon deals.

What makes it ugly and uninteresting though?? Looking from the pictures it looks pretty awesome!

      • Because it's ugly. They must have spent 400 hours trying to find an angle that looks appealing for the box photos. It looks terrible for any other angle. The suspension looks gangly and too thin. The angles are all wrong. The bike doesn't sit on stand correctly.

Uninteresting build means uninteresting. Some builds are technical and interesting. You feel like you are engineering something and learning about it as you put it together, this bike just felt lacklustre and dull to build. It's about the build quality I would feel I got from a $39 kit, not a $100 kit. I have built "Speed Champions" kits that were more interesting.

        • Maybe flog it off on ebay to recoup some of the cost of it since it was disappointing to you.

          • @deal junkie: Nah, it makes a good talking piece. The Lego Fat-Boy I have, people recognise it immediately. This thing usually gathers comments of "WTF is that?" or "Is that supposed to be a bike?" and when I tell them what it is, I usually get the same comment "Wow, it looks like they gave a 10yo a photo and a bucket of Lego pieces and asked them to build what they think it looks like."

        • not buying becoz of this review. lol. save me some bucks!

          • @howard22: lol… I'm not saying "don't buy", I'm just saying that it's not really a good kit to buy at this price. It certainly isn't worth the $100+ RRP, but if you can pick it up for $50, I'd say, sure.

    • I'd get it and make it as the street fighter or naked custom.

    • Wow really? Im just getting into technics (only own 911 RSR and Dodge charger, Defender on its way in the post now) but was going to get this as a small side purchase. I know its not a huge build but still thought it would look cool with the rest. Might wait for a bit then :/

Also its back up to $110 so guess I saved myself anyway

The Dodge (Dom's) Charger is not to bad. I like the look of it and the build was pretty interesting. The 911 is a great looking vehicle and has a really good build process that is interesting (almost felt the same as the rally car). The Defender blitzes both of these builds. It's a great looking model and is quite a large build that is pretty technical to build. I would put the Defender almost into the GT3 class for build time, interest and quality.

As far as motorcycle builds go, the Harley Fat-Boy was a much better build. The build was interesting and the final product looked almost like the real bike. It's almost twice the price of the Ducati bike build, and it shows. If someone wants to build a lego motorcycle, I say, spend the extra and get the Harley, it's a much more satisfying build experience with a better looking end product.

        • Thanks man, Ive been eyeing the Fat-Boy too but only wanted to continue the technic continuity and build up to the big 3 (GT3/Bugatti/Sian). Got me pumped for the Defender though! Ill keep an eye out for the Fat-Boy

How do you rate the Mustang GT?

          • @augernised: I've not built the Mustang yet. I have it here in a box, but I'm yet to crack it open. I'm very partial to the Technics and Creator sets. I think the Creator sets emphasize aesthetics and rely less on the technical aspects, which, to me, makes them a better look kit to build. But I love building the Technics sets, because that's what they are. They add a lot more to the technical aspects with complex systems such as the Porsche GT3 gearbox that was just worth building on its own.

    • Great builds the Voyager rocket and VW combi van. Was goimg to buy the Ducati one as a gift for a Duci fan. Won't now. Thks for the tip.

      • I think my favourites are the GT3, the bucket wheel reclaimed and a toss up for third between the Defender and the Mack truck… I really want to build the Saturn rocket.

        • Yeah. I meant the Sat V. Has alot of detail internally that you don't actually see in the final build. Has all the stages and s nice instruction book with info on that Apollo mission. I'm not a fan of the technics series. All seem clunky, but the Porsche or Bugatti set looks good.

Each to their own but I enjoyed the build and found some NPU elements (swords to hold up the windscreen) and the switchable gears to be quite interesting.

it wasn't a challenging build but definitely worth $70-80.

Funny how people take one man's opinion as if it's gospel. Sheep much?

  • I enjoyed this build so much being motorcycles and lego fan.
This build surprised me with the complexity and time it required for the price.

    Switching gears are just sweet.
Can it be better? Sure, why not. But… comparing to other lego (and competitors) motorcycles, this one could've been double the price and I'd still enjoyed it.
