To Hisense TV Owners for More than a Year: Can You Share Your Feedback on Their TV?

Got my eyes locked on the budget TV of Hisense which is the Q8 and I am wondering if Hisense build quality got better these days because I've read mixed feedback from the old reviews. Hence, I would like to hear feedback from the current or previous owners of this brand like how was the overall TV experience, the quality, the customer service, etc.

Hisense 65M7000UWG used almost daily since early 2017 and it's been great, plenty of online forum posts about tweaking the colour settings.
Can't comment about the inbuilt speakers as I have Edifier R1280DB plugged into the optical out.

    • nice. great to hear that you're still enjoying it!

I’ve had an older (non smart hisense) for about 7 years and it’s still going strong. Also recently bought a smart hisense tv about 1-2 years ago and it still works great so overall been pretty happy.

    • the non-smart tvs back from the days are really badass and that made you buy the same brand.

I have a 65P7 which has been going strong as our main TV for about 16 months. No tweaks done, no issues, no complaints.

    best value for money

65P8. Good so far. I do have issues with my shield tv dropping out. Usually have to unplug then replug to get it working.

I like being able to name hdmi inputs. 4k looks pretty good. No build issues. Got it for around $1100 so pretty happy with the value.

Software is trash, I had to do a factory reset because it would keep going into Store Demo mode, issue seems to be resolved now. Also the Alexa support is flaky and often times it will say "Lounge TV is not responding" and the volume seems to get confused when setting it because there's an Echo with a similar name.

I had an early model for close to a decade, never had any issues with it. Only reason I got rid of it was to downsize.

65P7 for about 15 months now (purchased for 1200)

Great PQ once you tweak the settings and great sound imo (I don't have any HT audio). Using with a VTV so cannot comment on OS/smart functions but have had zero issues with my setup

Only thing was around turning off FastBoot, which wasn't actually an issue for me but I did it anyway (seems HS have it off by default now)

Very happy with it so far

Similar story for me too. Same model.

    55P7 - Owned since 2018.

There is a couple of annoyances I haven't got to the root cause of yet.
Netflix and the colour Red - anything with Red looks patchy and isn't presented correctly when using the XBOX One S as a source. Using Stan, Amazon and Disney+ shows no issues. I now have my router closer to the TV so next time I sign up to Netflix I can test the Netflix app.

HDMI inputs, this is intermittent and annoying. Switching to an HDMI input will occasionally lose the signal (sometimes just audio, sometimes audio and video) and the only way to get it back is turning the TV off and back on.

The VIDAA software is ok, can be very slow to load apps. Weirdly, to access 9now or 7plus you need to navigate to one of their free to air channels, click the red button and then it will load. ABC iView and SBS On demand have dedicated apps via the app menu.

Overall picture quality is mostly excellent (with HD sources) though

    • awesome feedback. hopefully those HDMI input and VIDAA issues are kinda resolved by now. I'm not looking forward with the VIDAA though. As for the colour Red, I've seen a review somewhere that says that it's very common to most of the TVs nowadays. anyways, thanks for that. I'm also not bothered with those things so this will solidify my decision to go towards the Q8.

65p6, takes ages to connect to wifi when turned on. Sometimes won't turn on my receiver over HDMI, sometimes will. Motion blur. Very slow UI.

Wouldn't buy again, got memed into it by everyone saying they were great.

Bought my parents a K3300 early 2017. Have had a few issues with the software over the course of ownership (freezes and slowness) that is often fixed by doing a factory reset but other than that, it works fine.

Have a 65P7 purchased in 2018. It's mainly used a gaming TV. Been very satisfied with the picture quality and brightness. Been happily surprised with the audio. It's still audio from a very thin flat panel TV, but it's not as bad as I expected - essentially satisfactory.

In the 18 months of ownership, the main niggle I've had is HDMI-CEC failing 2 or 3 times now. I can't remember how I fixed it but it was pretty simple. Either it was unplugging it from mains for a minute or disconnecting the hdmi sources and then unplugging the TV. To be honest, I can't even say for certain that it's the fault of the TV. One of the HDMI devices plugged into it, also causes my other TV to flake out, but with the other TV, I haven't needed to do any reboots/unplugging. Just removing the said HDMI device makes everything work as it should again.

Main thing is, we've been quite satisfied with our purchase. I still recall something wise mentioned by a salesperson… "when you get home, ANY TV you buy will look the best because you're not comparing it to any others side by side."

happy to hear that you're satisfied with it and you just had minor issues. thanks and i'm gaining confidence to buy the Q8 because of this.
and also I agree with that salesperson unless you're a filthy rich with multiple TVs with extended displays on a single room. :)

My 55P7's screen driver board went bad after 20 months (may have been due to a fortnight of storm-related power issues a few weeks earlier). Went through JB Hi-Fi for repair, who sat on it for a month. Hisense finally got it and rang me the next day to offer a new 55R7 as replacement.
Repair tech home-delivered the new TV a couple of days later and offered to install and set it up. Very happy with Hisense's service. Any problems in future I'll go direct through them.

    • wow. that's good for you. I am assuming here that you did not pay for any fees with that replacement because you're still covered with the warranty, right?

      • +1

Didn't have to pay anything at all. Hisense SMS'd when their authorised repairer (in Chatswood) received the TV from JB, then called the following day with the offer of a new R7 as replacement under warranty or alternatively they'd diagnose the problem and get back to me with a estimated time to repair.
If I had phoned them from the start, they would have picked up the tele rather than me having to lug it in to JB Hi-Fi.

I have had my 55P7 for approx 18 mths. Very pleased with it. Picture quality is fantastic. Audio for such a thin tv I would describe as 'above average'. I did a lot of research before purchasing. Had a brief look at one in store and was satisfied before making the purchase online. On the rare occasion the remote will weirdly stop functioning except for the power button. Its not the batteries as I have tried replacing them with new ones and it still happens. I continue watching the channel its on or turn the tv off. The next day the remote will be fine again. I'm sure Hisense would sent out a new one if I contacted them though. Overall I think Hisense is great value for money over a Sony/Samsung/LG etc which I was tossing up between before making my decision. If I was in the market for a second tv I would definitely consider another Hisense.

Coming from a 75P7. I recently purchased a 65R8 and I must say…I'm really loving the huge improvements that this particular series has over the P7. The QLED technology in the r8 blows the P7 out of the water. Colours are incredibly vibrant and the software/interface (VIDAA 3) is much snappier than P7's VIDAA 2.5 (although I must admit that the Hisense software isn't as fast as LG). I mostly use the tv for gaming on the PS4, YouTube and Netflix (although the app diversity isn't that great). Rarely use cable tv. I was in a similar position as you, it was a little challenging to find in-depth reviews about the R8 that were more than just one sentence. Overall, I was very pleased with the 75P7 and I am incredibly satisfied with the R8. Hisense TVs are exceptional in terms of value for money. If I were to able to go back in time to the moment when I was in the market for a tv, I would tell myself to get the exact same tv as I have now. No regrats.

I’ve got a 37” CFL-LCD Hisense from 2008-ish, and it’s still going. The digital TV tuner died years back but the picture is still good. Conversely we had a 40” LED-LCD circa 2014-ish and it died when the screen just went black.
