What Is Your Experience with AliExpress Standard Shipping?

Hi all. I have recently been purchasing some small items off AliExpress and I've noticed they have been sent via standard shipping (even though i select epacket)

It's been almost an entire year since i have purchased anything off there.

  • I ordered an item and paid for the AliExpress Premium shipping which claimed 7-15 days. My item arrived after about 6 weeks, I asked for and received a $50 refund as the item also didn't include an Australian power adapter as promised.

Everything I've ordered has arrived, eventually. I even got a freebie a couple of months ago because item hadn't arrived within time allowed, I got a refund, then it arrived a month later. Contacted seller offering to pay again but they told me to consider it a gift.

  • I had a refund due to non-delivery earlier this year. Then 6 months after I ordered, the item arrived!

I have had several refunds this year. Their customer service doesn't respond but they do give refunds if it doesn't get delivered.

I've had the same issue. I selected EMS and paid extra, only for it to be standard shipping and sellers lying saying EMS is standard. Not happy about it either.

  • Pre-COVID, it would be around a month. I only order things that I don't need urgently and/or very cheap compared to retail price. Sometimes it takes so long that I forget that I ordered something and when it comes, it's a nice surprise!

Nowadays, it could take around 3 months.

  • From 3 weeks to a month and a half. After that the seller refunds you

  • I have several items coming from Aliexpress. One of the parcels cleared Australia custom over 5 weeks ago but I still haven't received it, another one arrived in Australia two months ago, also no sign of it. I have NFI what's going on.

I learned to use their Chinese site Taobao.com. Standard air freight is fast, 4-5 days on average from item being shipped to received. Sea freight takes about 2 weeks on average. You do pay more for shipping though.

    • If it's anything like Wish, it will sit in Aus for 2 months before getting to you

    • How did you know it cleared customs? My tracking never indicates custom status.

      • For me, when viewing the 'Track order':

Above the tracking updates is 'Parcel Status'. Currently that parcel status is 'In transit at destination country', where as previously it indicated that it was in customs. That the status has moved on indicates it has cleared customs.

        • Ah okay. Mine never show this much detail. It usually goes from left the country of origin to unknown. Even when it arrives, the status is still at its left the country of origin. Nothing about it landing in destination country or clearing customs

    • I tried Taobao but nobody on there delivered overseas. What do you usually buy from there?

      • Taobao is the domestic arm of Alibaba B2C. Aliexpress serve the overseas consumers.

        • Yes I know but taobao is way bigger than aliexpress and you can find some stuff cheaper than anywhere else on there. The hard part is finding a seller that ships overseas.

      • I usually buy test equipments and electronics components there. Instead of paying $7-$10 for one component, I pay like $3 for 20 of them. They have a universal overseas shipping service for all sellers on there.

        • Weird. When I tried to use it last time it said this seller does not ship overseas.

    • I learned to use their Chinese site Taobao.com. Standard air freight is fast, 4-5 days on average from item being shipped to received. Sea freight takes about 2 weeks on average. You do pay more for shipping though.

How does this work then? Just better shipping options?

  • I'm pretty new to AliExpress. From the order date my parcel took 2 months to arrive in the country, that was on July 30. Since then it hasn't moved, but the latest update was on Aug 10 'Arrival at Destination Postal Admin'.

My buyer protection runs out in 7 days. Should I request to extend my buyer protection, or open a dispute if it hasn't arrived by the date the buyer protection runs out?

  • Since I've suffered a similar issue is there anyone who can help me communicate in Mandarin with the store?

  • Has anyone had anything on AliExpress sent from China but routed via Singapore post? An order of mine reached Singapore in two weeks but since then no updates except it left Singapore heading to Australia. That was 3 weeks ago. I would have thought shipping via Singapore would arrive quicker but no sign of my package. The ETA was about 12 days ago.

    • Happens a lot. One of my orders (I received via Aliexpress Standard Shipping) left China - Hong Kong - Singapore, then to Australia. It was sitting in Hong Kong or Singapore for five weeks probably waiting for flights.

    • Yup, mine took 6 weeks from order date to get from China to Singapore, then 2 weeks from Singapore to Australia. Now stuck somewhere in Oz for 3 weeks.

      • Does your tracking show it’s arrived in Australia?

        • +1

Yes it does. These are the latest updates:

Arrival at Destination (Country: AU) - 2020-07-30
Arrival at Destination Postal Admin (From SG/SIN to AU) 2020-08-10

          • @Hopscotchy: Thanks. Hope you get your parcel soon! At least it’s tracked that it’s in Australia! Mine is in limbo.

If judging by your experience, it only takes two weeks from Singapore to Australia so it should have arrived by now. But for me, I’ve had no updates since early August when it left Singapore.

Now since the ETA has expired, there is a generic message on tracking to say it’s in transit, and if I don’t received it by 15/09 to contact support. 😒

            • +1

@roofyapple: Thanks Roofyapple, hope you get yours soon too!

I don't have a lot of experience with AliExpress as I've only ordered 2 items. For my other item the most recent tracking update was 'Departed country of origin' on the 13th June. There were no further postal updates, but it arrived last week (and that was via Singapore). Maybe your parcel will just unexpectedly arrive too. We can hope!

    • Yep I ordered a honor band 5 about a month ago through Singapore Post. Went to Singapore then here. Arrived in Australia 19th of last month, haven't received it yet.

  • Looking for some advice please.

I have a parcel that has been sitting in the country for 3 weeks. I have 5 days of buyer protection left.
When I try to request a 14 day extension to the buyer protection period, I get an error on the site.
I've contacted the seller and requested an extension, but so far the seller has refused saying that the parcel has arrived in Australia.

I just don't want to be in a situation where I don't receive my parcel and am denied a refund.
    Any thoughts?

    • +1

Aliexpress has a "Full refund if order is not received in 90 days" policy. If it's past the 90 days, ask your bank to do a chargeback. One of my orders has been sitting in Sydney since 25 Jul.

      • Thanks Xiangtan. There is 5 more days until we reach 90 days…I'll chill and wait it out.

      • What is the chargeback timeframe for banks?

    • +1

@hopscothy most of my sellers extend the protection automatically when the protection period is near and I haven’t marked my item as received. I’ve never had to ask them to, usually I just get an email informing me an extension is applied.
Your seller doesn’t seem to be a good seller if they refuse to extend the time on your request seeing your item hasn’t arrived. I haven’t had to get AliExpress involved so I don’t know what the process is to have them step in but surely you can contact them and just raise a dispute that your item hasn’t arrived. That way, it’s on record before your time expires.

      • Thanks Roofy! The seller has replied "we can't extend. you can wait 2weeks. if still not receive. you can open dispute".

I was thinking that requesting buyer protection was more polite than raising a dispute, but I'm a newbie. So I'll just do what you and the seller have suggested and raise a dispute after the 90 day protection period ends. I'll try to be patient - I really had no idea it would take over 3 months!

        • Ah okay, it sounds like there is no option for the seller to extend rather than they refusing to extend which was what I thought you meant.

Kind of weird because this was the email I got last time which I got for my late delivery which gave me the impression they can extend it.

“Thanks for your purchase . According to your order information, we found so far you did not CONFIRM your order shipping delivery status.
In order to ensure you can get the package, we have extended the protection delivery time for you.”

That’s okay, as long as you can dispute it, you should be good.

          • @roofyapple: The reply sounded to me like the seller was refusing to extend. The seller actually said "we can't extend again". I removed the 'again' from my note here to try to avoid confusion, as I've never had the buyer protection period extended.

Though I have 2 days buyer protection left right now, I just got an email today that says 'The confirmation time for order xxxxxx has ended'. Huh? I wish this site made sense! Email says I have 15 days to lodge a dispute, so I will be doing that.

        • Good luck mate it's a scam website in my opinion, ALIEXPRESS itself is scam, some sellers there are good while others are bad and when you deal with them (when get bad item "not as described" aliexpress will ALWAYS go with seller, or give you a ridiculous solution that would be totally not worth for customers

  • I just had some stuff turn up from China yesterday, one took just over a month (34 days) and the other took almost 2 months (55 days). It really depends on how lucky you are to get a flight out of China. The first package got out of China in just 3 days. The other spent almost 2-3 weeks. Really depends on luck my friend

  • This really blew up.

I just received one of my items this afternoon. it was via small packet. Sent on the 27th of July and received September 1st.

    • I'm jealous! I ordered an item on May 27 which was sent on May 31 via 'CAINIAO_STANDARD'.
Still waiting! Have raised a dispute now.

      • i've got orders from early april, havent received anything

        • Woah, that sucks!
Is your parcel still in transit, or have you requested a refund?

          • +1

@Hopscotchy: yeah ive gotten refunds, i always request once it is out of the senders warranty. Aliexpress is generally good with refunds from what i have seen.

But yes the tracking shows the items are still in transit, unless the tracking is completely wrong.

  • Ordered a kettle off aliexpress, arrived in 3 days, unbelievably quick.

The only downside is that the site locked me out due to their overzealous security causing me to be unable to give positive feedback to the seller, which is a real shame bc I felt the seller really deserved it.

  • Scam its full of scams at the dispute and case levels, if you get order correctly its all good, If not be prepared to loose all of your money. My full experience here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/563976

    • I've had a bit of a whinge so far in this post, but following waiting for 3 months & raising a dispute AliExpress has agreed to provide me with a full refund.

Now AliExpress says that will take up to a ridiculous 3-20 buisness days! But seems like it will be received eventually, unlike the item I purchased!

      • +1

Yeah i think that's like a standard response, but i received my refund much sooner, like within a week. So i guess it can vary

        • +1

Thanks again nrfy! Refund has just arrived, and that was only 2 business days. Happy!
Might go elsewhere for a replacement item though. Another 3 months or so will be a little too long to wait!

  • Two phone covers shipped on August,1st. I received both today. :)

  • Merged from How has shipping from AliExpress been for everyone recently?

I know COVID-19 has slowed shipping for everything but I just want to know roughly how long shipping takes now. I bought something from Aliexpress over a month ago with AliExpress Standard Shipping. The expected delivery was meant to be 14-20 days but it is has been stuck in the "Departed country of origin" part for a month now.

    • +2

Same, did 14 orders a bit over a month ago, some left country or origin only a few days later but none have arrived as yet.

      • oh rip, lets hope we get our stuff soon

        • Just had my first one arrive today.

    • +2

I ordered something and paid extra for ePacket postage that was supposed to guarantee 13-20 days delivery time, and I waited almost 6 weeks before receiving the item. So, I would say a good 2-4 week delay is my recent experience with Aliexpress.

      • That's really not bad considering it will be in business days. Something they neglect to mention most of the time.

      • yeh that delay isn't that bad, I should of gone with ePacket delivery

    • +1

Had a few small orders get lost in transit but something from 3 months ago arrived 2 weeks ago.

    • +1

i got a couple of order from china, one arrived within 10 days, the other nearly 3 weeks, one particular order took nearly 2 months. On the other hand amazon us/uk seems unaffected, most arrive within 2 weeks

    • One place I ordered from arrived in 2 weeks which was great (epacket?). But the other using "AliExpress Standard Shipping" took a month and a half.
If it helps I can post the following (3 stars are the times for the biggest delay) to give you an idea in regards to process and postage time:

      2020.09.04 13:03 (GMT-7): Delivery successful

      ***2020.08.30 10:35 (GMT-7): Arrived at destination country
      ***2020.07.18 23:30 (GMT-7): Departed country of origin
      2020.07.16 12:02 (GMT-7): Shipment accepted by airline
2020.07.16 07:20 (GMT-7): Shipment left country of origin warehouse

      2020.07.16 00:09 (GMT-7): Shipment dispatched

      • oh wow that's interesting. Thanks for this :)

      • My experience is the exact opposite.
I've had goods shipped AliExpress Standard Shipping arrive weeks earlier than stuff supposedly sent ePacket.
to the point that I'm still waiting on the ePacket stuff.

I've had reasonably bulky stuff, (ie shoebox size) as well as small packet stuff delivered like this.
One of my ePackets, the supplier after 3 months has finally admitted they cant secure stock, and the tracking numbers (they've supplied me 2 now) are fake but still refuse to refund.
Others have tracked but are yet to be delivered.

I swear AliExpress have changed their policy on late delivery too. They still quote the same shipping times, but I'm being forced to wait more than 3 months to raise a no delivery dispute even on my ePacket shipments.

Placed 10 or so orders on 16 June. One received today.

Some items came in about a month. Some are still yet to come.

    • +1

      about 2 months

    • close to 2 months for my last order

    • 2 out of 2 orders shipped about 3-4 months ago but never arrived.

    • 3 months

    • One of the several things I ordered mid July arrived at my door last night.

    • Wasn't Aliexpress, but an item coming from China that I ordered from eBay arrived last week, I ordered it in April and I figured it wasn't coming so got a refund. Now I have two since I reordered from somewhere else

    • Funny this, I ordered for the 1st from Ali back in the beginning of July. Was told on web site I could not dispute till Oct. Item arrived last week, so took 2 months. I was beginning to think 🤔 maybe it was a mistake ordering from Ali.

But it seems from the comments here Ali is not a bad option??? Besides COVID slowing things down a lot.

  • +1

Just received an order that I placed on the 29th of January - Now thats almost 8 months ago. Its was rerouted through Taiwan after the first month.

    • LOL.. maybe i still have hope for my April orders then

      • Sadly its really redundant, as I bought another (Replacement battery for CB) so its going to be 5 or so years before its really needed 😐

  • I had a few items shipped with AliExpress standard shipping. For some reason, when I enter the tracking number in Auspost, it says something along the lines of "untracked international item". I checked on 17track as well and it wasn't able to find any shipping information. Makes me wonder, how does AliExpress get tracking data if it's untracked on every other site?

    • Interesting is that my shipments received sometimes have different tracking numbers than that provided by shipper. Sometimes they have new labels added at a transition country like Singapore or Philippines

    • You can't track it on Auspost or 17track if the order is shipped via Aliexpress standard shipping.

      Try https://global.cainiao.com

  • Hey guys. I've got an item that arrived in the country on July 30 and hasn't moved since.

2020-07-30 20:14:00 Arrival at Destination (Country: AU)
2020-08-10 23:12:00 Arrival at Destination Postal Admin (From SG/SIN to AU)

Question - what do you think the chance is that it will actually turn up one day?

    • +2

You'll eventually receive it. It happened to one of my orders. It arrived in Sydney on 25 July and got delivered two weeks ago.
