Indoor Plant Recommendations for Melbourne Weather

Hey OzB

Looking to get an indoor desk plant, super low maintenance, Melbourne weather.

Currently eyeing off a 'Zanzibar Gem'. Don't want any desert plants.

What's good?

My wife (who has turned our house into a plant nursery) says a Zanzibar would be good, or Devil's Ivy, or a Peace Lily as good starter plants.

    • That zanzibar has it happening on so many levels

Peact lily's are great. Easy to look after and are nice to look at. Doubley so when flowering.

I've got some snake plants indoor. Easy as maintenance wise.

    • Looking for more leaf

  • Zanzibar if you want something that will barely grow no matter how much you coerce it with sunlight and fertiliser.

I have a peace lilly and rubber plant. Neither have died yet, so I consider that a success.

    • Was checking out the rubber plant, a bit of effort

I thought the obvious answer was weed?

    • Cool idea, but too much effort 🤙

  • radiator plant for some color

    Swiss cheese plant

    • Got one of these outdoors already, crazy nice plants 👌

  • I'm in the same boat and have decided to get a Peace Lily =)

All the above suggestions…also consider a spider plant…and also English ivy

    • Appreciating all the suggestions, that damn Zanzibar is just pure jungle and unkillable, hard to beat…
