Nintendo Switch Headset (Preferably Wireless?)

Hi I'm in the market for a headset to play Nintendo Switch with, I've been using a cabled mic/earphone set up to play games a little bit and I think it's becoming increasingly dangerous to do so

Does anyone have a cost-effective option or this that they mind sharing?

Not sure the costings here

  • What's so dangerous about cabled mic/earphone?

    • I was playing a multiplayer game and jerked my switch/which led to the dock and switch falling and cracking the tempered screen

When im playing ps4 this isnt an issue but might be good in this

  • The Switch doesn't natively support wireless so you need a third party adaptor like this. There are different models, some use the 3.5mm jack others use the usb c.

    • Is there nothing that Aliexpress doesn't sell. That looks like a great idea.

    • How does it fit in docked mode? Does it rotate or something? Does it support mic or audio only?

    • Wondering if docked mode works well here?

  • +1

I did a heap of research and the ps4 gold wireless is the way to go. The dongle plugs straight into the dock in docked mode. You'll need a usb-c to usb-a adapter (like the one that comes with many Samsung usb-c phones) to use it in handheld mode.

My son uses the above all the time and it's all good. Mic works fine for in game chat too, eg Fortnite.

Normal wireless headphones can't be paired with a switch without an extra dongle and even then it can be iffy. Mic use is problematic for this setup too. There are very few dongle/headphone combos that support mic use and even then the audio quality can apparently be very poor. If you want to use mic, I'd suggest that generic BT dongles will be problematic.

    Audio Receiver: Gulikit Route+ Pro
    Headset: SteelSeries Arctis 1 Wireless

This allows me to speak to my mates through Discord on my phone (wired) whilst hearing the Switch audio (wireless) at the same time.

  • I had a recent setup where I used my bluetooth Bose QC 35 ii's with my switch (so any bluetooth headphones you already have).

It required my Switch to be next to my desktop which was what I was planning to do anyways, but may not be the case for you.

I used an aux cord to plug the audio out of my Switch to the Line In port on the back of my computer and in the sound settings set that line in to 'listen' and I could hear all the audio coming from my Switch in the whatever speaker/headphones of my PC.
