Kid Friendly Inexpensive Bluetooth over Ear Headphones

My son (12 yrs) has a pair of Mpow H7 head phones which have broken. The ear phone cup has broken at the 90 degree pivot on the band. They weren't expensive and he's had them for over 2 years so pretty good going. I'm looking to replace them. I'm thinking of either the Mpow 059's which seem to be built sturdier or the TaoTronics TT-BH090. The TaoTronics seem like better headphones for the money but I'm little concerned about the build quality of them not been the best so I'm leaning to the Mpows. Is there any other headphones that I should consider that can take punishment from kids?

Edit. I should add that the H7's only broke after they were accidentally dropped. When looking at what broke I feel that the construction at that point was a weak point. Also want wireless as the cable breaking is another point of potential failure. If the kids forget to charge their headphones I don't see that as a problem as they need to be resonsbile enough to charge their devices without us reminding them to do it.

      inexpensive was the keyword Bing

    • Certainly not what I'd call inexpensive.

    • Haven't heard of them before. Initial thoughts are they seem very cheap and perhaps not very robust. Will check them out though.

      • What about earbuds? Don't have to worry about the robustness as much, just not losing them

        • My wife's not that keen on the kids having wireless earbuds, true wireless or corded between the earbuds. If they are corded between the earbuds then the robustness of the cables is a potential weak point. Plus the battery life on wireless ear buds isn't as good as over the head. Another advantage over of the head is you can see that the kid is wearing them.

TaoTronics have good build quality. If it breaks your kid is the problem. No offence but no headphone will survive that kind of treatment. Tell your son to work for it if he wants something, that will teach him how to cherish his belongings.

He got two years out of the headphones, which doesn't sound like they suffered "that kind of treatment".

that can take punishment from kids?

Then what exactly did the headphones do wrong that needed punishment. Isn’t it domestic abuse? If it were human I’d report it to the police.

I never punished any of my headphones.

Kids probably got into rage after losing game or being told to stop playing to go eat/sleep then proceeded to go apesh*t on mouse/keyboard/headphone.

No offence taken at all. He dropped them and was upset about it too so it wasn't a silly rage quit or something like that. If it had been he'd be paying for a new pair. Looking at the headphones looks like the part that broke was a inherently weak part of the design, which you wouldn't know about unless you opened them up. What I meant is we know kids can be a bit rougher on their stuff than us adults might be and some electronics isn't the strongest either. My wife and I try to teach and drill into our kids to look after their belongings. Generally speaking if they want something expensive they can get it possibly as a birthday or Christmas present but otherwise they work for it. I don't give out pocket money for nothing, the kids have a list of chores that they are required to do. Don't do something on the daily list then the amount of pocket money is reduced. We also put half of what they earn through pocket money into a savings account that they can only touch for when we are on holiday etc. They can do extra chores to get bonuses to work for something that they want. My son recently wanted some LEGO so he was doing extra chores for many weeks, during school holidays helping out my parents with odd jobs like polishing silver for my mum so he could save up enough money for the set. Extra chore money we give them the choice of whether to save it or they can spend it on something they want.

i was going to go BT for my kid, but didn't want to worry about charging them (constantly). So i ended up getting him the MPOW CH6S from Ali for $20.53

    • My son is 12 so I think he'd find that design a bit childish. He's old enough to think about charging his headphones and it wasn't a problem with the previous pair. Thanks for the suggestion.

I got some MPOW 059 for my nephew last year and he's around the same age and they are still going.
Granted my brother is actually using them more than he is haha.
