Vodafone Desire HD buyers - What are you buying next?

A year ago there was a awesome Desire HD deal. Basically, it cost well under $600 for 12 months connection and a Desire HD, when the Desire HD was going to cost over $700 imported from the UK. Vodaphone even gave a further 50% off for three months bad service credit.

Yes I got the $84 from buckscoop cashback too.

Anyone that bought the Desire HD through this deal is likely looking for a replacement. There seem to be four options:

a) iPhone 4S - Buy it on a Telstra contract and sell it for a profit and use the plan (I can't believe people actually pay more than RRP for it)

b) Galaxy Note (http://www.samsung.com/global/microsite/galaxynote/note/inde…)

c) Galaxy Nexus - http://www.google.com/nexus/

d) Samsung Galaxy SII - $499 delivered (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/55588)

  • N9 baby!

  • On point a.

You might find that market is limited. As it is released in more places around the world, the demand might decrease.

  • 4 very different phones actually. You probably won't even call Galaxy Note a phone — does that thing even fit in your pocket? Also doubt Galaxy Nexus would. With your option a), are you going to continue to use your Desire HD if you are selling the iPhone 4S? Would that even work with Next G?

    d) is a sensible choice at the moment IMHO, and you are free to pick whatever network you want.

    • people did the "does it fit in your pocket" thing about the Desire HD.

I personally want a Galaxy Note, seems like the perfect size.

I look at my Desire HD these days and the screen seems too small.

  • I'm going to update mine to SG2 until HTC release a better handset in the future.
Really like using the Sense UI on DHD handset. The Note seems a bit too big for me
to use as a phone & don't really like the handset design on the Nexus range.

  • I'm tossing up between the Galaxy Note and a Droid Razr. Galaxy Note is the same size as a Dell Streak and that fits in my pocket comfortably. And as all the controls you use are at the bottom of the screen it should be ok to use with one hand.
However, the Droid Razr is sounding like a really tough phone (note quite waterproof but still quite good). As my DHD got water damaged (still working, just minus the volume button) I kind of am looking for something slightly tougher. Though I believe it is exclusive to Optus.

  • Galaxy Nexus for my vote if you can wait and aren't bothered by paying more..
but SGS2 for bang for buck and immediate availability.

  • why not the htc evo3d?
or if your willing to wait for a couple of months.. a few quadcore phones will be released =)

  • nothing that has caught my attention, switched to liveconnected as soon as i could (what a remarkable difference btw).

now ill just wait and see the next ozbargain bonanza like the htc hd was.

  • im interested in buying a Desire HD btw :)

  • Just bought a Galaxy Note from Handtec :-)
    Costed around $778 delivered.

  • Just received mine from Handtec.

It's freaking AWESOME. It plays 1080p MKV, supports my USB flash drive by adaptor, amazing screen, amazing stylus and drawing capabilities and more.

You should see the game Cut the Rope on the Note. It's gorgeous.

It's quite funny seeing poorly developed or old apps on the Note. Robot Unicorn Attack is crazy buggy. I've yet to see that app work on any of my Android devices, haha.

So sick of agreeing to the 50 or so licence agreements from the many apps I have on it.

Being able to plug in my wireless adaptor for my keyboard is just great.

I absolutely love it! It's just as great as I hoped it would be, and that is really rare these days.

    • Congratulations! Cheaper elsewhere, but a great deal nevertheless :P

      • Dahmmit paid $20 more at Handtec :P

  • I favor the Galaxy Nexus. I like the nexus curve screen. I really like it.

  • If you like HTC - why not stick with one since you would be use to Sense UI. So why not the HTC Sensation?

  • I got the DHD through that Voda deal last year and I've now shifted to a SGS2 w/ Telstra…no looking back! :)
