    Monster of a phone…huge as

  • +3

    That's one hell of a phone…or tablet…LOL

  • +9

Too small to be a tablet and too big to be a phone.

    • +2

      It's… a… Phonlet!

      God… that was lame.

      • +3

The prior post should start something along the line of…

        <superman theme>
        It's a phone!
        It's a tablet!

        then followed by your post

  • +18

    yup, 1 huge phone or a tiny tablet… can't decide… a phonlet then…lol

    • +29

Better be quick to copyright that… so you can get your lawyers to sue whoever uses it without your permission ;)

      • +26

He'll be alright…there's no "i" in front of it!! LOL

        • dibbs on Phablett (darling!)

        • +8

if it's a rectangle with a button good luck with that…

      • dibbs on Phablett (darling!)

        Oops, accidently negged your comment!

Phablet(tm) and Phonelet(tm) are both winners in my eyes :)

  • +3

One hell of phone. Love it, as long as it is pocketable, bigger is better

  • +1

    need long thumbs.

    • I think a stylus comes with it

  • I dont get it… why is there two prices?

    • 1 says Promotion

      • so when does the promo run out?

  • +1

Just measured that out on a piece of paper, its just too big, 4.7 to 5.0 inch screens are the sweet sport for large. 5+ is minitab.

    good deal though

    • I can imagine that for some people it would be a perfect size.

  • +2

    I wanna sell my SGS2 now =(

  • Don't knock it til you try it. The accuracy is increased greatly due to being able to use a stylus and it also lets you take notes and what not. It still fits fine in your pocket and the battery is a massive 2500mAH.

I just hope the Amoled screen doesn't have all the issues the SGS 2 does.

    • interesting we have gone back to styluses again :O

      • +3

stylus is only for certain uses (writing notes, drawing phallic superimpositions over the images of others, etc.)

can still use without a stylus in the same way you use any other capacitive touch screen device (pinch-zoom, etc.)

        • -1

I just used it for three hours straight, on every app, for writing etc. It's for everything, if you choose. Drawing etc. would barely work without the S-Pen though.

    • Tinting was on very limited handsets, mine doesn't have any tinting problems

    • Issues? Mine has been working flawlessly since I bought it

  • Awesome phone but no ICS, no NFC, no Super AMOLED Plus screen and no 4G :( Apart from the screen size the Galaxy Nexus has much better specs. Dont know if I should wait for the Nexus or grab this.

    • Probably wait and see as Galaxy Nexus will be released soon.

    • +3

you forgot the camera(8mp) and the microSD slot. Also the galaxy Nexus has 720p display, this is a 800p display.

The Galaxy Note will get ICS anyways but of course with Touchwiz. Presently 4G and NFC are all but unimportant to 2 of the 3 mobile networks in Australia.

Going by CPU/GPU the exynos processor is faster than the OMAP4460 used in the Galaxy Nexus.

However not everyone buys phones based on the specs and look at other factors as well.

  • +5

The screen is too small, I prefer my Ericcson T10 LCD screen

    • well played -_-

    • +1

Now that was a cool phone. I had the yellow one and people used to stop me in the streets to ask what my phone was. Ahh the good old days when phones were used for err phoning people :)

      • +1

I had the yellow one too! Though it was a hand-me-down and was old by the time I got it…

    • touché sir

  • +4

Why not just buy it here: http://www.handtec.co.uk/product.php/5504/samsung-galaxy-not…

$740 shipped with dhl or $742 with fedex.

    • what conversion rate are you seeing?
      That should be $850

      • we don't pay vat.

        • +24

          Vat doo yu meen exaktly?

        • VAT = Value-Added Tax
It's like the UK version of GST

  • +1
  • +41

Geez the last time I pulled out 5.3 inches, nobody said that was too big :(

  • issh - unpublished because this is not the place to compare products, it always starts flame wars. Sorry but thats the way things are seem to go.

Post your comparison photo's which are quite informative, in the discussion forums where everyone can make comments

    • +2

wouldn't you want to compare products to see which is better value..

      • Spawnpoint. We have had plenty of phone comparisons and there are many threads. Do you really want the hate wars to start up again?? They havent changed anything in the past…

        • +5

what about Same OS, I'll agree the iOS vs Android vs(WP7) may not be suitable for discussion here, but lets say comparing this phone to say the Atrix or the Galaxy Nexus or the SGS2, I think that will invoke a healthy discussion about which Android phone is the best value in terms of features, design etc

        • +2

yeah ozpete i agree with you on the no-flame-wars but also spawnpoint is right on here, it is perfectly within reason to compare phones of the same OS, won't create an android vs ios/apple war, seeing as apple don't run android on their phones =P

        • -1

Totally agree, the comparison which you cant see as it's deleted is for the flamewars products, so we are all singing the same tune here.

  • +4

I found the link to the comparison of sizes very useful. I wouldn't have known about that if it wasn't posted.
A link to a useful tool without any arguments should be allowed.

  • +4

If only my Desire HD would die, its no longer big enough for me! :(

    • +4

Agreed, why is HTC stopping me from changing my desire HD by building such a quality durable phone :(

      Otherwise, good deal.

  • Looks good but way to big.

    • +5

      thats what she said :)

*sorry mods, inner child had to say it

  • +1

Unfortunately, this one's just too big to carry around on your belt. Otherwise, it would have been mine (muahaha).

Galaxy S II will be my next I think.

    • +4

People still do that? I thought the "Fastest Nerd in the West" phone holsters were over?

    • +2

I still see people putting mobile phone on the lanyard and hanging around their neck. So "carry around on your belt" won't be uncommon either.

  • Strange, I was browsing through expansys this morning. THey're got a lot of updated mobile phones.!

  • +5

I have this phone, when I first opened the box I was shocked to see how big it was (Looked smaller on internet pics). But after a few days of fidling with it i wish the screen was bigger! :P. Size is great, phone is great can't find anything bad about it. Love it so far. Waaay better than my SGS2

    • +3

damn you to eternity of hell. If this phone wasn't so expensive, I would be on it like a diabetic zombie on Halloween candy

    2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
    3G Network HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100 about time for a quad band 3G from Samsung :)

    • +1

What are you talking about. SGS II is a quad band 3G phone.

    • SGS2 has already been quad band 3G for a while now…

EDIT: just saw above, I had opened this page 2 hours ago then went off to do some work, that comment wasn't there at the time lol

  • +1

I wonder if this will drop in price by Christmas?

  • -1

Also; this is a standard price. Sure you can probably get it here first, but you can get it from many unlocked phone shop in the UK at a similar price. Definitely not a bargain at all. OzEarlyAdopters.com.au

  • +4

    Just received mine from Handtec.

It's freaking AWESOME. It plays 1080p MKV, supports my USB flash drive by adaptor, amazing screen, amazing stylus and drawing capabilities and more.

You should see the game Cut the Rope on the Note. It's gorgeous.

It's quite funny seeing poorly developed or old apps on the Note. Robot Unicorn Attack is crazy buggy. I've yet to see that app work on any of my Android devices, haha.

  • After reading up on expansys… id be very careful ordering from them.. Not to mention no local warranty..

  • +1

I am waiting for Kogan to pick up this piece of technology =)
See how much they will offer for this Phonelet

    • +1

Well done with the casual usage of Phonelet :)

  • +1

This phone is even bigger than the long forgotten Dell Streak 5" but with 1.4 Ghz dual core and the right Android OS and overall cooler features makes this phonelet/phablet /tab-lephone so much better.

Too bad I like wearing jeans. For guys its more suitable for the cargo pant / man-bag inclined.

    • Tab-lephone… interesting… I like the hyphen, otherwise it becomes a table sized phone or a phone only for a table :)

    • Actually, it's more or less the same size and even thinner, despite the larger display because the bezel is much narrower.

    • yep, it won't fit into any hipster tight jeans/jeggings? but for regular/slim fit jeans there should be no problem

  • One night a Galaxy Tab and a Galaxy S II got down and freaky.
