Anyone know if they’ll release a new chipset soon to replace X570?

      • Aren't we expecting X670 before the end of 2020 alongside new Ryzen CPUs?

          seems logical

Have read articles about x670 rumours, but AM4 socket dies with Vermeer (4xxx CPU) and Cezanne (5xxx APU) releasing late 2022/mid 2021. They won't have DDR5 or USB4 (maybe), hence new series board isn't critical.

I just bought a Gigabyte Aorus Pro X570 itx board for $368 delivered as it only to last one more generation. I've got a Ryzen 5 4650G PRO APU on the way, and will swap out for Vermeer and RTX 3000 next year.

x470, b450, a520, b550 and x570 all can run next (final AM4 socket) generation but there is a catch for 4 series. Manufacturer needs to release bios updates (likely) but you have to use bios flashback to apply the update (can't do it with the CPU installed or OS).

If anyone missed the Strix deal and have Ebay plus, that itx board is on ebay with Computer Alliance for $440.10.

      • I'm just hoping that they do release X670 mainly to get rid of the fan requirement they all seem to have with X570.
Probably not a big deal for most people but I definitely want to hold off in case, super cool that AM4 has been supported for this long though!

That's my biggest concern too. Chose the Aorus Pro as it has a big baseplate which acts as another heatsync, it's cheaper, people have modded it with thermal paste to increase heatsync efficiency, and early issues were fixed in bios updates late last year. I have also read people swapped the fan, but I probably wouldn't take it that far. Strix has 3 fans I read in one review.

  • Remember this is ITX not ATX size.

    • I did a load of research on good ITX size coolers overnight. Testing is putting the Scythe Fuma 2 ahead of the Noctua D15 (known as best around) for noise, cooling and performance. They're sold out everywhere, but QuietPC in the UK have them for next day shipping at $119 delivered. Brilliant design for an ITX board
