Up to US$2000 Referral Bonus, US$50 Referee Bonus Unlimited Times | Crypto.com Exchange Stake-to-Take

140

Hey Everyone - wanted to give an update on Crypto.com after my last post on their debit card offerings (2-5% cashback, free spotify/netflix/lounge pass) which you can find here. Some details and updates on the debit card at the bottom, keeping the focus on the Crypto.com Exchange (to buy/sell crypto) here.

TL;DR:

Sign up with a referral code and stake CRO (i.e. invest and lock up crypto.com's currency with them for 6 months at 20% interest paid daily) and you will get a $10 or $50 USD referral bonus in CRO. The optimal strategy (in my opinion) is to sign-up and stake 5,000 CRO in the Exchange and 10,000 CRO in the crypto.com App for the Indigo/Jade debit card (please look below and in the previous post for more details). At current CRO price of ~$0.18 - total cost of $2700 USD for $100 USD in referral bonuses plus some pretty great perks from the card.

To use the referral, click the link below without adblock (or on your phone) and it should take you to a page for the App Sign-Up where you can see the referral code. You can use this code to sign up for the Exchange as well as in the App (for the debit card).

I believe you can double up referral bonuses with the exchange and the in-app CRO debit card but please let me know if this isn't the case and I will amend the post.

To be clear - only the person signing up only gets $10 or $50 USD on the exchange and $50 USD from the CRO debit card. The person referring them can get up to $2000 USD

The exchange referrer bonus is based on the first amount the referee stakes and you also get a 50% discount in exchange fees for 12 months:

  • 1,000 CRO - $10 USD referral bonus ($10 referee bonus)
  • 5,000 CRO - $50 USD referral bonus ($50 referee bonus)
  • 50,000 CRO - $200 USD referral bonus
  • 100,000 CRO - $400 USD referral bonus
  • 500,000 CRO - $800 USD referral bonus
  • 1,000,000 CRO - $1,000 USD referral bonus
  • 5,000,000 CRO - $2,000 USD referral bonus

Syndicate

Once you stake 5,000 CRO and make enough trades on the Exchange you can also participate in the Syndicate where you can get discounted crypto currencies like BTC, ETH and so on. More details in this post

Further details on the stake-to-take program

Key CRO Debit Card Changes since July:

  • Debit Cards are not being issued in Australia due to the Wirecard issues. They have found a new issuer but need to transfer over the BINs before they start sending out cards again (should be in Sep or Oct at the latest I reckon)
  • Switch from MCO to CRO. This doesn't affect new customers, but everything (prices, cashback etc.) is now done in the CRO currency to consolidate everything into one
  • Fund crypto.com App with BPay/PayId now (withdrawal via PayID should also come soon)

Let me know if you have any questions and have a read of the old thread in case your question is answered there :)

Referral Links

Referral: random (258)

Both referrer and referee receive US$25 on sign up (NOTE: must stake at least A$500 CRO for 6 months). Turn off adblocker when attempting to obtain a referral link

  • referral is not a bargain

    • +2

You sure about that? Take a look at the 86400 deal on the front page.

  • +1

Not sure if you can double up, seems like my referral code is the same across app and exchange - maybe if you don't sign up to the exchange as an app user it's possible?

[Edit] Nvm the sign-up links are indeed different, so maybe it does work. Wish I knew this before signing up to exchange!

    • Yes diffrent. This post also misses the best part which is the 2% extra on deposit (was 3%). made an easy $20 on that alone.

  • +6

I highly recommend it and will be signing up when I get out. Love Peter Foster.LOL.

  • +1

I've been using my card for a couple months and have 5 digits on the Exchange staked too. Let me know if you have any questions.

  • +1

What is cheapest way to do trades to participate in syndicate event?

    • Denome on Youtube has some strategies you could try implement on the exchange

Otherwise maybe just swapping between stablecoins to minimise volatility risk or ensuring any trades you ever make in the App are done via exchange (usually cheaper on the exchange anyway).

    • +1

Trade USDT > USDC and back again

  • 15,000 x 0.18 = 2,700 not 2000

    • oops, thanks mate! corrected

  • +3

I don't really use the Exchange but can vouch for the card. Few of us at work have the Green/Indigo cards as do a few mates. Rarely touch any of my credit cards these days, I just run everything through the Crypto.com card.

  • Haven’t received the card since signing up a month ago YMMV.

    • yeah i mentioned that unfortunately the Wirecard issues have affected them shipping out the debit cards in Aus. they have a new issuer though so that should resume in the next month or two (or maybe sooner!)

      • I've heard the blue card isn't available to Australia. Is that true?

        • there's a blue one (free and 1% cashback) and an indigo one (3% cashback)
not sure about the blue one but indigo is definitely available

        • Blue (free) is not available in APAC but the Ruby is. 2% cashback in CRO and you need a 1000 CRO stake to get started. My prediction is that cards will resume shipping in mid Sept.

  • The random referral link just takes me to a page to put in a referral id.

    • try without adblock, in incognito mode, or on mobile

      • Works better on your phone

      • You might want to request mods add a diffrent link, The exchange link is slightly diffrent. the code is however the same .

    • Try opening in Incognito, that seemed to work for me.

    • Once you have the app up and running on your phone, click the link on your phone.

  • OP, could you please add the blurb about fee-free VISA debit cards to fund the CRO from? Last I checked there were only a few banks that would let you pay them, and even fewer without international fees etc.

    • sure - where is that blurb from?

      • sorry, i'm not very sure, but i think it was in the previous crypto.com deal posts (or comments).

    • +1

UP, 86400, TRANSFERWISE all offer free debit cards with no international fee, and you can use them all to topup the card.
All free and some of them have a referral scheme so you get some free money - sign up to them all so you have some options (the 3DSecure credit card security thing doesn't seem to be very reliable, so occasionally you might need a backup if you can't top-up successfully)

      • Oh huh I've been a long time user of transferwise but didn't realise they had this debit option… very cool, probably much easier to apply and manage than bank accounts. Thanks!

        • +1

careful with transferwise, there terms state you can't buy crypto (Which you can't with mastercard anyway) and they state you can't topup a prepaid card or account.

    • +1

      I can recommend 86400, ING
AUD topup (PayID) is supported for the app now but not the card

  • Where is the bargain?

    • free referral money is always nice just like the 86 400 referral bonus that's on OzB

  • Wait - so to be clear, you need to pay money into the cyrpto.com app, with a real credit card, and then they reemburse you with CRO for the subscriptions? So you're paying for your spotify or Netflix anyway and then getting CRO which may not be worth anything anyway? Where's the value? who's to say that the investment will even be worth what you put in in 6 months? This reeks of a scam

    • You can sell the CRO you get credited from the cashback straight away and withdraw that if you wished.

      The cashback isn't staked.

      • Okay so best case scenario you buy BTC each month with your cashback and offset the potential loss of CRO tanking?

        • you can buy stable coins (pegged to AUD, USD), move it in your Fiat Wallet (AUD) or top up your debit card in normal currency.

they're working on easier withdrawal via payid so you'd be able to pop it back into your bank account as well

the cashback for spotify/netflix is based on the spot price. So if it's $0.18 you'd get 55.5 CRO for a $10 USD spotify payment. if that crashed to $0.01 you'd get 1000 CRO when you make the payment

          • +1

            @pHyR3: Fair enough, I guess for a $250 buy-in it's a bit of fun but I'm not sure i'd be prepared to gamble $2500

  • Does anyone know if paying bills will provide a cashback as well?

    • Yep anything that accept Visa. Just watch out for surcharges

      • Yeah but the 3% cashback more than makes up for it.

  • any updates on the card yet?

  • Received my Ruby MCO card via DHL this week.

  • @pHyR3
Need some 101 about how to top up the card and how to convert CRO into AUD to spend it.
    Thanks in advance

    • Top up the card with a Visa or Mastercard Debit Card that has no international transaction fees. There's a list here:
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/cards_with_no_overseas_tra…
Since the CDC card is in SGD, your AUD will be converted to SGD initially when you top up. You can swap it back to AUD in the app wallet if you wish to avoid SGD fluctuation.
Note that topping up with Mastercard generally gives a better conversion rate than with Visa which is why Macquarie and Up bank are commonly recommended. To me the difference is negligible (0.1-0.3%) so I still use my preferred 86400 Visa, but it might matter to you.

To top up your card with crypto you need to first convert your CRO to BTC, then when you Sell your BTC you are given an option to transfer it to your Card wallet.

      • @wangasm, thanks for the 101. A quick question about top-up from either Visa/Mastercard, since now it can accept PayID or Bpay directly from an Australian bank account. would that be better in terms of avoiding currency fluctuation between AUD and SGD? Or still it will be converted to SGD first, even it's received directly via these methods?

        • The app does not let you directly top up your card using your bank deposit/fiat wallet. You need to purchase BTC first with your fiat which then tops up your card. You will lose some value doing it this way which is why topping up directly with a debit card remains the best option. In the future they may let us top up directly from the bank/fiat wallet.

And yes it always converted to SGD first regardless of top up method.

          • @wangasm: Hi Wangasm,
Thanks for the tips. It seems linking a debit card to top up remains the best option for the time being.

            • @ja912son: I made an AUD payment via PayID. It ended up in Fiat Wallet in AUD and I had to buy CRO, buy BTC and sell to fund MCO card. Rather confusing experience.

      • Also, since MCO is a debit card, at point of sale, apart from using Tap&Go, I assume Saving/Debit option should be selected, correct? Thanks

        • The card is technically a Prepaid Credit Card, not a debit card, so you should choose Credit. A lot of places may also require you to sign for the purchase the old fashioned way since it is an international credit card.

          • @wangasm: Found this in FAQ, it's more like a debit card.

You can use your MCO Visa Card to pay in over 40 million Points of Sale (POS) worldwide (look for the VISA logo) and countless online retail shops.

Bear in mind, the MCO Card is a Visa debit card. Some merchants may require a credit card transaction to use their services, among them chiefly hotels and car rental companies. You may also be required to use a credit card to apply for some subscription-based services (mainly online or mobile).

            https://help.crypto.com/en/articles/2500716-where-can-i-use-…

        • No, you need to use Credit not Savings - it's a Visa card so it uses the Visa Credit network, not the EFTPOS Savings network.
As below, the Telegram chat can fill you in on all the details…

    • looks like @wangasm answered your questions but already let me know if you have any more :)

      • One more question, I tried to use MCO to pay for Spotify. Error msg came up saying 'Your payment method and country don't match. To continue, change your account's location or use a different payment method.' What's the workaround for Spotify?

        Thanks@wangasm@pHyR3

        • ah yeah you'll have to set it up with Paypal and pay via Paypal on spotify

make sure to change your currency to AUD! don't let paypal do their currency conversion or they'll skim off 4-5%. you have to do it manually for each recurring payment and they make it purposely hard to find

          • @pHyR3: Thanks. Will try that later.
Also, I tried to use MCO to pay Suncorp App purchase, even it provided 2factor auth, still failed and couldn't get through. Do you have similar experience?

          • @pHyR3: I tried to link MCO card to my PayPal, and failed as well…
It seems the acceptance of this card is not that good. Doesn't work with Suncorp app and now Paypal…

            • @ja912son: hmm not sure about suncorp app, paypal worked okay for me but was a little finicky to get working

generally haven't had many problems with acceptance anywhere else

              • @pHyR3: With Paypal, error msg says 'The information entered is not valid. Check your entries or try a different payment method.' Maybe my MCO is too new? I've contacted MCO support and see what they come back with.

Thanks anyway for your help and tips!

                • @ja912son: have you enabled international spend on the card?

                  • @pHyR3: Yep, first thing I did when activating the card. Support confirmed that card is alive and good for international transactions. They said they had to investigate it.

@ja912son: ja912son, install Telegram onto your phone then go here https://t.me/Cryptocom_AUNZ to join the AU/NZ community - they'll answer all your questions. The new cards don't work with PayPal at the moment…

              • -1

@pHyR3: No PayPal on the new cards for now - install Telegram on your phone then go here https://t.me/Cryptocom_AUNZ to join the AU/NZ community for the latest information 👍

        • The old workaround for Spotify was to use PayPal, but this doesn't work at the moment…

          • @Nom: Hi Nom, good to know. Joined Telegram group.
Emailed Crypto support again today to follow up about the issue. No updates.
Unable to use MCO for online purchase, even I've more than enough AUD in my account. Unable to use it for Spotify, coz unable to add the card to Paypal.
I start to think what I really can do with this card…. I must say the experience so far is not joyful.

            • -1

@ja912son: No worries, it all works really well once you get to grips with everything 👍
Raise your issues on the Telegram group and they'll sort you out.
There's also an unofficial group which generally provides better info
              https://t.me/AUNZ_Cryptocom_Unofficial

              • @Nom: I was removed by so called Rep Ji and Eden from both groups. Later got confirmation from Crypto official support that they are all cons. Be alerted!!!

                • @ja912son: What ? The official group is run by Crypto.com themselves, it's run by their own staff.
I think you've got your wires crossed somewhere.

                • @ja912son: Also, thanks for down voting my posts above telling you where to go to get help, I'll stop bothering now.
