Aliexpress Not Allowing Negative Comments

Have noticed Aliexpress is moderating heavily anything that could be deemed negative about a seller, but particular anything referring to covid, virus, pandemic, delays etc. I only was mentioning how I was ok with the long post time due to the pandemic, arrived on time still, it comes up with an error. If you go back and remove any reference to delay or pandemic it allows the comment. It seems a bit non transparent that they may remove negative comments, or not allow comments regarding sellers. Has anyone else noticed this?

Welcome to the world of CCP.

It's all part of the "system". Aliexpress protect the Chinese sellers, but eBay are even worse in allowing Chinese sellers to abuse the whole selling process. If Aussie sellers try the same antics then they promptly have their account closed

No, not my heckin AliExpress? They wouldn't do something like this.

Well all of those things are out of their control. If you have something relevant to say about the seller or their item I am sure it's fine.

  • Why did you begin your second sentence with the word "I" but not the first?

    • To deliberately annoy grammar Nazi's.

To be fair they are protecting their sellers from negative feedback on stuff that is 100% out of their control. Not fair to reduce their rating on covid delays when the whole world is affected.

They recently refunded one of my purchases after it didn't arrive on time (no doubt due to covid) so I'm ok with them blocking covid feedback as long as they keep refunding for lost or slow orders.

      This.

I am happy to hear a platform that actually puts seller's interests first. A platform should provide all means for the buyer to dispute purchases and have protections in place but negative feedback for postage should only be for late handling, bad packaging, lack of communication or misleading postal method.

      • True but there are multiple problems and tricks sellers in China do which can only be done in China. 3 of the items I bought ive been waiting 3 months, then after 2 months seller decides to cancel the post, which meant they never sent it, and dont plan to. Never let me know. The other 2 items, Australia post have confirmed they are known as virtual tracking numbers, not real so they also did not exist and mysteriously entered Australia 2 months ago but no record at all, so Australia post said its a common scam they do when they dont want to send the item. It is relevant to mention post or shipping/tracking numbers but its hard as it doesnt allow it.

For things that are not available anywhere else. There are some good items too. I avoid as much as possible from China where possible but sometimes its not, especially for those who fix electronics, phone parts etc things like that. Can also buy direct from suppliers for some items that are cheaper than any retailer can offer too. Try finding parts, or even cases for Sony phones for example, there are few options.

To buy cheap crap. Not everything needs to be quality.

    Amazon does the same thing.

I did mention Winnie the Pooh but surely that wouldnt be something banned.

  • This kind of blanket keyword ban may be rather common in their system, and I experienced it a lot in the Asian MMOs. You can have half of a word censored or a completely innocent sentence blocked because it contains a string that doesn't pass their filter.

Having a peruse around ozbargain and the internet at large you can probably bet there were many people who were posting far less innocent messages than yours using the phrase Covid/pandemic etc on AliExpress that led to the implementation of this filter. It's not always a conspiracy. There are people on the other side of the screen.

    • If that was the case they could just be transparent and explain that in an error message. The error message that came up was just "system busy try again later" tried many times with various words, it always comes up with that error with certain words but remove any reference to "delay due to pandemic or similar" change to, didnt take too long with what is going on in the world…. it worked lol.

      • Like I said, they might just no let anything with specific key strings through. There are games which block the string "puta" because of the derogatory meaning of it, so you cant even type "computational" in chat. It will just block your whole sentence.

This is what it sounds like to me.

Also the aliexpress website is getting so annoying with popups and then it logs you out so frequently and you need to perform captcha to log in.

And they also made it much more different to talk to customer service.

    It's getting worse.

    • Agree, I use adblock so not seen any popups but I agree totally on the hard to talk to them. When you get through they can be very helpful but hard to actually talk to an agent via chat. The logging in thing is ridiculous but its been that way for some time. I dont know why it seems like the only website on the internet that cant keep people logged in or recognise they are the same user atleast. They need to spend some money on their outdated site.
