Lenovo Tab M10 - Tablet for Kids

I've got a JB Hi-Fi card and set on buying something from there for the kids.

Its in addition to our family's IPAD, and pretty much for the kids to use and Reading eggs and the occasional internet surfing/fb/youtube stuff.

I've come across something that i think is suitable.

Lenovo Tab M10 (HD) - but it appears the $199 price from JB Hi-Fi isn't that special and they run a low res screen (1200 x 800).

Should I get this, or better value elsewhere?

I wouldn't recommend the M10 gen 2 HD, unless you budget doesn't stretch beyond $200 and you must buy from JB.

The Tab A 10.1 would be a better buy if your budget stretches that far, but not up to a second iPad level. Can probably get them to match $299 from Target or Officeworks.

The Alldocube iPlay 20 and Teclast P20HDs are also good budget options, but these need to be imported and don't expect any updates/support.

Best value overall would be an S6 lite from the Samsung education store with their $50 sign up voucher and can be had for $390 ish since they committed to a 3 year update, but that's budget dependent.

  • Have you seen the reviews/played around with it? I was also thinking along the lines of you, but there were some of those Lenovo tablets on display at TGG and they were relatively terrible…washed out, laggy, low res looking. If you didn't have an ipad it might be OK, but when the kids are comparing the two, if they're clever/old enough, the Lenovo will probably become a paper weight.

It might be okay enough for your use case I suppose…

They are definitely a budget range of tablets.
