    I've owned one of these for a while - I also own a 3011.

    I strongly recommend not buying this and buying the 3011 instead - 2560 x 1440 at 27" is SMALL…

    • I think someone has just been spoiled :P This is a huge improvement, given EVERY other monitor in Australia (even at 27") is 1920x1080.

i think he means having such a high resolution on the 27" makes everything look small on the screen

        • I definitely read that the other way. Especially given he then suggested the 30" with a higher resolution (granted it has lower pixel density so things would be larger).

        • "i think he means having such a high resolution on the 27" makes everything look small on the screen"

Yep - thats what I meant.

Also this 2711 is widescreen - much prefer 2560x1600 than 2560x1440 for viewing web pages and gaming…

        • I have to agree that 27" 2560x1440 is a bit hard to read, but its all personal preference. Now I look at other screens that have a lower pixel density and I say 'What a crappy resolution!', but again, for people that have easy eye strain its probably a better idea to stick with a 24" or 30".

You can always increase your font size :)

      • +2

        Or go back to 640x480.

    • I strongly agree with GreatWhiteHunter.. I had a 27 inch for about 3 months, then moved up to the 30 inch and prefer the 16:10 aspect.

So, if anyone in Melbourne wants to make an offer on 4 month 27 incher let me know, ha ha.

    • How do you use a 30" in a home environment? They are massive. I used 2x30" for film work and they had to be set waaay back on our (very) deep desks so we could take it all in. I have the 27" at home and find it perfect for graphic work, not so much for text based stuff.

Does seem strange to go back to the family computer at 23" and 1920x1080. Man, I remember back in the day when getting a 24" CRT monitor was the business. I had two of those behemoths on my desk.

  • thanks for the tip, whats the cheapest youve seen the 30" for? cheers

    • $1050? Your much better off with this if you don't need a 30" monitor.

      • I paid $1099 for my 3011. Best money I've ever spent on a PC item…

I have 2 of this, bought it around July for $626. Great monitor, highly recommend it.

  • my eyes strain looking at my 24" monitor. i can't imagine what looking at a 27" or 30" so close for hours on end will do to my eyes

    • +1

You sit at the same or further distance and focus your eyes just on the section of the screen that you are working on. Not sure how you can strain your eyes on the 24" monitor. Are you looking away from the screen every 30 minutes like you are supposed to?

    I'mma keep using my 2x 2407's and 1x 65" until I can afford a 3011.

    • +1

If you can afford a 65", I think you can afford a 3011.

I own one of these monitors, I love it. It has a ton of inputs, can do picture-by-picture and reproduces colors very accurately. AAAAAND ofcourse has a really high resolution.

My monitor started to fail on me recently and had green artifacts on the right hand side and a pink line down the middle. I called up Dell on Wednesday night +5pm and they got a new monitor to my door today with out me needing to jump through any hoops. I just told them my problem, confirmed my name and address and then they told me they would send one out.

    Top service!

/End me sounding like a rep.

  • Nice buy. I have three and love em! You might also be able to use your motoring club card for an extra discount;

I'm not sure about other banks.

Trying to use any of them will result in it costing more, as it removes the $160 off coupon which brings it to 639.

  • Ordered. Great deal :)

Will be using it for photo editing to replace my ST2410. Looking forward to seeing the difference of an IPS panel and whether it really is that small ;)

  • Great price, but until these things can also do portrait, I'll be sticking with my awesome 2407.

    • Get one of these and another 2407 then a 3 arm VESA mount … Monitor Nevana…

  • +5

Nice… But my bank balance says "No" :(

    • How much does an overly used kidney go in the black market these days??

      • I'll buy it at a high price!

  • Great price for an excellent monitor. I picked one up 3 weeks ago for $649 delivered incl. 3 year warranty.

  • Nice.. very nice. Think I'm getting one. Was thinking about the 23" that was on sale before, now I'm glad I didn't get one. :D

  • I want one of these but my 2405 is still functioning. As soon as that bites the dust, I'm going 27".

    • +2

You can always sell your 2405 on eBay, some people pay a ridiculous price for them.

      • +1

Hmm, I might look into that. Or just give it to someone if I'm feeling generous.

      • +1

True - people still want the 'exact' same model to go with the one they have already. Makes sense… sort of.

  • How long does this deal run for? Does anybody know?

    • +1

Get $160 Cash Off - One Unit Per Customer (Ends Thurs, Nov 10th 2011)

  • Blast! I just bought one of these used for $470 yesterday. ;( Should have waited one more day, and could got a newer one for a bit more!

  • damn, now I got to choose between one 27" screen or two 24" monitors. How heavy is this monitor again?

  • Awesome price for an Awesome monitor. Bought one last year for $720 and it's well worth it. Have my custom Win7 box plugged in via dual-head DVI and StarCraft II never looked so good at ultra high res. Also have my Mac Mini Server in via display port, works perfect! Very accurate color reproduction.

Gone are the day of 14" CRT monitor :) I have been sitting in front of the U3011 for about a year now and it is great. My 11 yo son got the 27" Ultrasharp Dell and my 7 yo son got the 24" Ultrasharp Dell. We are a Dell monitor family.

      Pics or GTFO

    • Are you able to adopt me.. and then shortly after unadopt me? :)

  • Fantastic monitor!! I bought 3 last year and love em. I'm tempted to buy a 4th at that price…

  • How does this compare with Apple 27inch cinema display?

    • +2

Same panel on both but the dell has alot more connectivity options. The apple has a single mini-display port and thats it.
Though the apple does come with a webcam built in and is led backlit. Though there are colour reproduction issues with led backlit which is why dell hasn't moved to them yet for their high-end monitors

    • -1

Apple's one is better because it has an Apple logo.

    • +1

The Apple has a glossy screen.
